Hi from Michigan - dry suits info needed. Just starting to research

Whites has some interesting dry suits with what appears to be a lycra outer shell. Helps to keep the drysuit compact. Prices start at $999 with a $200 rebate if you surrender your wetsuit when you buy the drysuit. Actually, it can be anyone's wetsuit. Condition is not important. DUI is...

Nope, not insane. I started diving at 59. The only issue, the regret that I had not started sooner.

    newbie from michigan

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, based on the current weather patterns, diving will start late in Michigan. That will give you a lot of time to complete your refresher. If the ice hasn't melted by May, I might have to head to Florida.

    MAC compatible HCI?

I use MacDive. I have found it easy to use and stable. They are very responsive to feature requests or issues. The only issue that I have is remembering to put my dive computer into the proper mode to talk with the computer. For the price, it is an excellent value.

    Night dives = AOW?

NAUI requires three dives (nav, deep dive, night/low viz) and three elective dives. The elective dives allow adaptations for local environments (altitude, surf,etc.).

Open Water entry level has been a disaster so far

Congratulations. I was one of those students who took longer than most to learn some of the skills. I spent at least 5 hours a week in a pool in addition to my OW class time. I practiced the skills over and over again until it became second nature. At the end, I was a much better diver...

    Got The "Lumbar Blues"

I have had back issues for about 4 years. Tried a lot of different stretches, exercises, yoga, etc. I have arthritis, and some compression around L4/L5. After trying pain relievers, etc., I decided to try physical therapy. After three months of PT the problem started to improve. Not perfect...

I'm sure they looked for dive flags first....

The official explanation cited lack of fuel. By dropping the bombs they used less fuel returning to their ship. The bombing range was not available to drop the bombs on.

    Wetsuit drama.

Another trick to help you get into a 7mm suit.......Put a plastic bag over your foot or hand before inserting into the wetsuit. You are correct, the hotter, sweatier you are, the more difficult it is to get into the wetsuit.
