Compression/workout long sleeve shirt vs. rash guard

Polyester is naturally UPF where nylon needs something added to it. UPF also depends on the weave of the garment.

Diving shorts w/pockets or strap on thigh pocket?

I have peeled off a DUI pocket from a couple of wetsuits after they wore out. I had my dive shop glue them on so I'm not sure what glue they used. Just needed to get one corner up then peel - takes some effort.

    Bali March 8-17. Tips?

I must have misread/misconstrued some posts then. Thanks for making your preference clear.

    Bali March 8-17. Tips?

Luko, Do you have a recommendations of Dive Shops and Hotels in Sanur to dive Nusa Penida with? I am working on an Itinerary in April/May for Nusa Penida then up to Lembeh Straits with NAD. My last trip was to Tulamben diving with Liberty Dive Resort - best dive resort I've stayed at. Just wish...

Lembeh in february. Which resort would you recommend and why?

Me too. I turned the AC up to 24-25 celcius during my stay last March and off entirely when going to bed. My 4th stay there. The enlarged camera room is great.

    Malapascua - Recommendations please

I have also dived with TSD over the years. I saw someone post that Evolution doesn't allow pointy sticks - makes no sense to me. Tapanee is nearby, the bungalows don't have hot water (at least during my stays) but their other rooms should. There are a number of resorts that offer air...

    Four Star LOBs in RA?

Yes he was very anti social;-) I was on the same trip on Mermaid 2 and my second trip with them after Komodo in 2015. Really like the crew and boat despite the small dining room. Make sure the boat and/or crew will handle your BC and let you board the dingy without gear. i have been on a dive...

    Raja Ampat or Komodo?

Dive Raja Ampat if you have not been. I will go on my second trip in March on the Mermaid 2. I dived Komodo last November on Mermaid 2. Komodo was fun diving and I did see some mantas but the vis was not the best. I also saw mantas on my first trip to Raga just not as close as Komodo. Nothing...

    controlling the INON Z240

I have two Z240s. I've never used anything but manual mode. Once you get the hang of it you it is easy to proximate for your subject. My main anoiyance is whether i accidently hit the pre flash on off button and don't notice it soon enough. I wish that switch would lock better.

Olympus OMD EM-1 MKII - Open Discussion

I have EM-1 mk2 as of today. I missed the bit about flash sync speed change. I am more concerned about having an underwater housing for my March trip to Indonesia. I have a Nauticam for my EM-5 but I see Subal is had a really nice housing for the EM-1 and is easier to repair.

Water temps in Komodo right now?

I was diving from Mermaid II from Nov. 14-21 at Komodo. We got into some cooler water coming up from the deep during the tides at 78-79F or 26 celcius. I wished I had bought a new 5mm before the trip and a better hood. Other dives were about 82 F. I run colder than most and take a 5mm with me to...

    Moalboal or Panglao

I would opt for Panglao. I actually prefer the Alona Beach dives over the Balicasag dives but it has changed a bit since a typhoon about 3 years ago (prior to Yolanda). It pushed a lot of sand out over the face of the reef in front of Alona Beach. I really like seeing the Dwarf Moray (golden...

    Maya port to Malapascua ferry

Yes ranking right up there with the worst experience I have in the Philippines compared with Manila Taxi driver fare to Terminal 1 (International) from Makati. I usually try to get to Maya before 12 noon to wait out the Ferry tycoons. If you do pay a "special" fare they will still wait for...

    Ambon vs. Bangka Isand?

I love muck but besides Lembeh I am interested in worthwhile destinations I can pair with it that would offer more diverse diving to round the trip out. thanks.

what to use to reattach dial on EM5?

Yes, the Gel Superglue worked for me. It stays in one place instead of running where you don't want it.

    Ambon vs. Bangka Isand?

Looking for a little advice. Most of my tropical diving has been in the Philippines. I have been to Lembeh twice and once to Bunaken. I am in Seattle so fortunately I love muck diving here and in the tropics. I would like to pair another trip to Lembeh with a new spot and was considering Ambon...

    To Diffuse or Not?

thanks, I have an Oly EM-5. BTW Digital Photography has started a series of articles describing sources of noise which at my first quick read supports your approach. I've never taken the diffusers off my two z240 strobes. I think the light would be too hard on the macro critters i am usually...

    To Diffuse or Not?

yes but that all depends on whether you have a point and shoot, micro 4/3 or dslr. A curious question, is it better to bump up the iso to properly expose a scene (low natural light) or capture said scene at a lower iso and adjust in processing? Six of one and half a dozen of another?

Are The Philippines really so polluted?

Not in the Philippines. It will be in a multi-use glass bottle that is not recycled but washed and reused until someone accidentally breaks it or it gets too worn. Then it can be recycled. Also I try to be conscience of my impact when on smaller islands by refilling water bottles (many places...

HELP! Horrible Cebu Pacific website non-functional, how else can I get tickets?

Or just go with Philippine Airlines. I have gotten Cebu Pacific tickets in the past via phone because the website will not take my US credit card. So I decided to skip it and fly Philippine Airlines - no problem with their website and I don't think the ticket is much more expensive after you...
