What is your Recommended online US Scuba Shop

I can't possibly say enough good things about Dive Right in Scuba! Free shipping on most orders, and the item is on my doorstep the next day. The owner and staff take the time to answer questions and solve my problems. I've been having problems with a leaky drysuit and the owner is personally...

What should I buy with my remaining $250 in shop credit?

You could always fill a couple sets of doubles with trimix. ;)

    Secondary dive computer

I had an X1 as a primary and a Hollis nitrox computer in gauge mode with tables as a backup. As I was on the boat suiting up for a 230' dive, I found my backup computer had flooded on the previous dive. Rather than replacing the backup computer with another el cheapo, I found a great deal on a...

    Narcosis Pill??!!

Seems legit. There isn't a price, but they have to be cheaper than helium. Us tech divers could use more nitrogen to cut the oxygen down in our breathing gasses, and simply eat a couple extra gel tabs. They should also eliminate those pesky deco stops, thus making a dive to 300' a recreational...

Installing V-planner on Ubuntu - Please help

ahhhhh, after much weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth, I found I needed to set the file permissions to "Allow Executing File as Program". After 22 years of Windows, Linux has a bit of a learning curve.

Installing V-planner on Ubuntu - Please help

The other day I got fed up with Windows 8, and installed Ubuntu 13.10. I am a complete Linux noob, but I already like it better than Win8. I'm trying to figure out how to install V-Planner, and it says that I have to download the tar.gz file and manually install it. I successfully downloaded...

Want to test out my new gear near Cleveland... suggestions?

Rent a 7mm wetsuit and check out the quarries. Most of the quarries have a rental department. I would suggest either Gilboa or Portage. The water temperatures aren't horribly cold yet and the vis is pretty good. Gilboa has a heated bath house and hot showers.

Tool for removing an Apeks drysuit dump valve

This may be an old thread, but it got me out of a jam. Thanks for the pictures of your tool ;) . My dump valve was dumping around a half gallon of water into my suit on every dive. This became quite unpleasant while hanging on the deco line in the great lakes. I couldn't figure out how to...

Good Dive computer that scales to tech diving?

You're going to want to get a set of double 130's to go with this. It's so conservative that you're going to be in the water forever at the shallow deco stops when you get into technical diving. I suggest the Shearwater Petrel or the Liquivision Xeo.

    Best drysuit glue?

I have a crushed neoprene drysuit from Diving Concepts. I have a small leak that I need to locate. What glue is out there that is better than Aqua Seal? DC used to have their own glue that worked great, but due to their... problems, our shop can no longer get any. So who else makes a good glue...

Purchase good equipment, and keep it maintained, and you won't have to worry about complete equipment failure.

Great Lakes: The best way to dive them

I live in West Michigan. There's a few really nice wrecks scattered throughout the coastline, from snorkel depth to 130' (and beyond). That being said, I would suggest going down the Wisconsin side and hitting up Milwaukee and a few other spots where the wrecks are more concentrated. As...

    pony bottle question

I work at a dive shop and I take care of tank visuals and sending them out for hydro. The tanks that I usually fail hydro are the ones that have been stored without pressure in them, and pony tanks that are just left at full pressure all the time. I'm sure someone will have something to say...

    What would you buy first

The first thing I bought was my own wetsuit. I also installed a pee valve in it. I don't like swimming in pee. Sent during my 10' deco stop

1 tank over within 36 minutes

Just watch the other divers, and only breathe when they do. Sent during my 10' deco stop

Need an extra undergarment layer under my drysuit

My buddy had a lot of trouble with the 400g thinsulate trapping air. We both dive 4th element now. We dive 38* water at least once a week, and stay warm. Sent during my 10' deco stop
