Diving in Buzios, Ilhabela, Punta del Este

Hi LeeAnne, When would you be in Punta del Este? There is only diving there during summer - from December on. The only dive "worth"would be Isla de Lobos. One dive, expensive and where you are only at 6 m watching seals dive by you, with a vis of max. 4 m. That is pretty much it.

Waterproof blush & tinted lip balm

There is Lord and Berry 20100 Matte Lip Crayon which comes in 11 different shades. But it is rather on the expensive side / U$ 19. I have not gone diving with it yet but went for a 3K pool swim. Stayed on beautifully.

Is Diving Near Cartegena, Columbia On Par With Caribbean Diving?

San Andres and Providencia are on par with superior Caribbean diving, but you need to take a plane to get there since it is closer to Nicaragua. Isla Rosario (across Cartagena) is quite below average. Overfishing, but corals are beautiful. Cartagena - I would not dive there, due to pollution.

    Moz, Maldives or Similan

I've been also to all three sites by (my) preference 1. Mozambique - Nov 2012 (Tofo/Zavora) Good amount of mantas but only one whaleshark - while snorkeling. Lot's of huge potatoe groupers. No need for liveaboard, all landbased and the launch from the shore is a rush. Make sure you are...

    Boat traffic, surface marker buoys

We just got back from the MV Orion "Best of Maldives" trip. During your first dive, you will be asked to employ your SMB during your safety stop. They will brief you thoroughly when to use your SMB - pretty much: always during your safety stop, so the boat can see you where you are and...

    San Andrés, Colombia

I had a good experience with Banda Dive shop -http://www.bandadiveshop.com/. Their boat leaves from Hotel Lord's dock and they can give you a hotel/dive package. They are laid back, no hurrying, but always on time somehow. The hotel is centrally located - next to the beach and all the...

    Montevideo- Recommendations???

It really depends what site you are swimming/diving. Montevideo's water is not the ocean but the Rio de Plata Delta (river) and winter water temp. are usually around 70F. If you drive up more north on the east coast you will hit the Atlantic Ocean and temps are a bit colder 65-69F. It is...

Coming to Monterey in July, Anyone interested in a visiting diver?

I am planning to drive down to Monterey from San Francisco the weekend of June 22/23 to dive -sea condition permitting - and all these links and advice are very helpful. Just a few more questions: 1. Average water temp. in June? I just want to understand how cold the water will be that...

Open Water dive suggestions - Southern Brazil (Litoral Paulista/Carioca)

I was in Angra dos Reis once and my experience was with Frade Diver Resort. Their shop and dock is in the resort area. We went in July (winter) and water temps were around 18/19°C, so we took our 7mm suits. Vis: 10-15m. Dive sites were apt for Open Water divers. We brought our own gear...

Can a woman dive and travel Mozambique by herself?

Two added recommendations when diving in Mozambique - any gender: 1. I highly recommend you get dive insurance. There is no recompression chamber in that country. You will need to be evacuated to South Africa 2. Be Nitrox certified - the most amazing dive sites are between 28-38 m deep and...

Can a woman dive and travel Mozambique by herself?

Something that I already posted at the Women's perspective forum where this question also came up. Last October, I traveled to Tofu and Zavora with my dive buddy for 2 weeks. We had no issues traveling as two women alone. We met a German woman traveling alone in Tofu that was diving with...

Max and Will, thank you very much for your reply and links to more info. We have finally decided to travel to Panama's Pacific coast to dive in May. I am still interested in Taganga (brr, no hot water?.....even if it is 35°C and humid, I still need the hot shower after a couple of dives) as...

    Montevideo- Recommendations???

Just got back from Montevideo/Punta Del Este and took the opportunity to ask around about the diving. As Matias mentions above - there seems to be no diving near Montevideo but some near Punta del Este which is about a 2 hour drive up north to the Maldonado coast. However, diving is done only...

Recommendations diving in Taganga - Colombia?

I am looking to dive in Colombia again, and this time to travel with my sister who just got OW certified. We have about 4 days for (easy) diving - third week of May. Since I have been diving already in: Isla Rosario (not so great, looked pretty overfished to me) San Andres (easy and some...

Africa's Indian Ocean - where to dive next?

Hey Mavric, thank you very much for the detailed information on places, accomodation and operators. Just great info that we needed in order to plan accordingly. Just another quick question - how soon do we need to reserve if we travel Sept/Oct.? I rather do it later than sooner since my...

Africa's Indian Ocean - where to dive next?

Champacs, thank you very much for the information and your additional recommendations. We will look into Mayotte and Nosy Be and preliminary it looks like we could dive both places if we choose those islands. It will come to depend mostly where we can get the best flight connections. Since...
