    Nor Cal Whale Story

I know a little bit about this story. It's true. I know James, he is a "stand up guy" and was the right team member for the task. Andy

    Lobster Hunting with Wrist Computer

I'm far from being a timid lobster diver and I've never had a problem with either my bottom timer, computer or my compass while reaching for bugs. They are bungi'ed up and will slide out of the way easy enough. Never more than minor scratches and replacement covers wouldn't cost much. I...

    Marking your tanks???

Like others I use a sharpy to mark my name on the top. It works well. I don't dive air and find it a pain to write in each serial number when I'm logging the fill into the fill log. I punched K-1 through K-6 as identification numbers on my tanks and it has made that task much easier.

    some lobstering questions.

I've never really had any luck using one of their antena's to clean out their entrails. Here is what I do. I take a tail, Put it on a cutting board, Place a large sharp cutting knife over the center of the tail, Slam the top of the knife with a heavy pot or frying pan so the tail is cut...

Anyone come across an electric eel while diving?

I recently saw a show called the amazon abyss or something like that and they were saying the electric eel has something like 600volts. What they didn't mention was amps. Anybody have any idea what that might value be? On another note; I was watching my daughter playing with the cutest...

    barracudas harmful?

I did a dumb thing that kinda gave me a wake up call. On our first dive trip my son and I fed kibble (dog food)to the fancy looking reef fish. About 15 feet away there was a 4 foot baracuda. It kicked its tail about 3 or 4 times and swam between us (literally inches away) at what seemed like...

Lowest SAC possible ? (without being dead)

Hi Charlie, I believe that test is called "ultra sound" but I could be mistaken. I do understand your second part about the ppC02 slightly reducing the ppN2 during slow breathing, but to be honest with you I'm not sure how that would pertain to or effect the test result. The way I see it you...

Lowest SAC possible ? (without being dead)

I felt that my questions were staying on topic....more or less due to possible safety issues. The reasons that I asked was in one of my tech classes the instructor talked about N2testing/loading and how it applied in the real world. One thing that he mentioned was that the local tech boat...

Lowest SAC possible ? (without being dead)

Hi Fred, Mind if I ask you a few questions? How much N2 do you retain? Have you been tested? How does that alter your profile? Thanks. Andy

30 or 40 lb. lift on Halcyon Eclipse?

For single rig dives I use an eclipse 30 or a pioneer 36 with a LP 95,mainly dry but sometimes wet. I like the 30 personally but admit I haven't dove a 40. Don't think it's nessesary. I rig my wife up with the 36 because I think it holds her up more comfy on the surface. You can actually...

    Extra Lead

I have to agree with Mark. I've seen people my size (5'8" 190lbs) carrying 3 times the weight I use. When wet (Xcel 976) with a LP95 I use 18lbs. I've seen MBDC rig up an out of towner that was my size with 50lbs while I was at their shop. When I asked them about it the guy said "he is an...

    Diving Club

Good for you.I think that's a great idea. You might ask your dean to point you in the right direction,or ask some of the established clubs like the ski club for their standard opporating procedures. About 5 years ago me and a couple friends started a club that has a private board, meets about...

Poll: Where is your favorite place to dive?

I think My most memorable dive was our family's first dive after OW class. It was the blue hole at Nassau. We were scared just at the thought of dropping down to the 40plus feet to hit the sand. When we returned from the wall dive we were jazzed. As much as we had fun in the warm water I think...

    San Felipe Diving???

Greetings Chumley, I was there 12/30/06 for an afternoon. I would have shore dove it but we were short on time. The water seemed to be about 70-75 degrees and clear. It looked like a decent kick out to get to deeper water. We (the kids and I)drove in from Rosarito and were stopped by the...
