    Bayahibe DR

Just realized that it looks like you were there just a few weeks ago.

    Bayahibe DR

Hey, thanks for this OTWD. Is that fairly recent? Looks like a fair bit of healthy new "carpet" on the reef. Like solid recovery from an event. About 15-20 meter viz would you say? Is that pretty typical around there? What time of year was that? Sorry for so many questions--can't help myself!

    Bayahibe DR

Hi All Been a while since I have posted, as I have been high and dry in ski country for several years. But I am heading to Bayahibe in a couple of weeks. Not a dive trip, but I want to do a few dives so I will take my computer. I have been poking around a bit, and I am wondering about a couple...

Palau in late August or early September?

Yeah. You can get lucky or unlucky anywhere at any time. It's all about odds. Thing is, the prevailing winds during summer and fall mean that you a far more likely to get locked out of the real deal dive sites during these seasons. Hence the great discount. Hate to say it, but personally there...

    Fiji Dive Site/Dive Operation Recommendations

Kadavu and the Great Astrolabe!! Taveuini as well. I used to like the diving out of Ovalau (former capital of Fiji) as well, but I hear that there is no longer a dive op there? I would give Beqa a miss...

Palau and Yap suggestions! Getting excited for our upcoming trip!

And is the Thai restaurant still in Palau? I think so. If so, quire solid. If you want to try something local, go for a Fruit Bat Soup! Otherwise, eat heaps of Tuna! Sashimi. Poke. Etc. ---------- Post added January 25th, 2014 at 10:25 AM ---------- Oh. And I quite like the pizza at the Rock...

    Hawaii/Ni'ihau vs Palau?

Palau is stunning! Some of the best diving on the planet no question about it, and more accessible than the best of the rest. You need to be ready for looong days. Leave your hotel at 730-830, back at 230-330, which may be tough with an infant. Also, and this is key, you need to go between...

    Cave of the sleeping sharks

Very cool! I wonder if this area is highly oxygenated?

    Favorite dive sites around Cozumel?

Coz iz what it iz, which iz great in terms of viz--and massive reef structures. And sometimes some great currents. Yeah, not so much in the way of fish and such compared to Asia Pacific, but amazing reef and well worth diving repeatedly! And when doing so, Devil's Throat is awesome! And...

    Blue angel questions

Back when I did my DM at BA, we would swim shallow out to the wall (Villa Blanca Wall). Stunning shore dive! Gotta keep your head down due to heaps of boat traffic, and it's definitely a swim. Need permission, I reckon, and probably won't get it? Not for all, but it is a stunner if you can...

    Preparing for Devil's Throat

I agree with Dave. Great dive. And not such a big deal to dive it compared to many other recreational dives round the world. DT and cathedral are the best of Coz, IMO.

    Diving Bligh Water July 2014

Can anyone recommend a good place to do my DM in the Philippines?

I just replied to the "best place to dive in the PI" string below, thinking I wads responding re a DM post. Check it out. ---------- Post added January 2nd, 2014 at 08:09 PM ---------- And if you do your DM elsewhere, take the opportunity to check out Boracy for some beach time. Just make sure...

Best place to dive in the Philippines ?

Some good options above. Bohol is pretty chilled, and a very nice place to do a long term DM due to the easy going topside and solid diving. Very small though. Sabang has a very serious dive scene, including world record setting deep dive history and such. Amazing reef diving, as well! Way...

    Bad photographers at SCUBA Club

Apart from the fact that handling these animals can introduce bacteria and disease that can jump in from the terrestrial world (and if you claim this cannot happen, consult your neighborhood marine biologist or vet), the fact is we need to be all prophylactic about this. Can't leave it up to...

Has anybody here been to Scuba Club Cozumel?

Great thing about SCC is that it is do easy to walk into San Miguel. Heaps of dining and drinking options, many of the best of which are mentioned above. And you can always grab dinner at SCC out of package if you like. You made the best choice, IMO.

    Roatan vs Cozumel

Lived and worked in west end for a while. I was nearly murdered. And another dive pro had his head bashed with a bat. Both incidents occurred just out of west end. Stay in "town" and your fine walking about. Lots of peeps around.

Trip Report: Beqa Lagoon, Fiji, March 2013

I'd be happy to give it another shot. I have over 5000 dives in my pockets, all over the world, and Beqa was a bust for me. I reckon if I am in that area again, I will dig up your post and give it another go. No problems with the topside part. That's great pretty much everywhere in Fiji. But...

Trip Report: Beqa Lagoon, Fiji, March 2013

Beqa is truly a yawner. Very much overrated. Hit the Astrolabe!
