    TSandM -- Lynne Flaherty

Wow, I am terribly saddened for your loss. She's the reason I got into DIR and learning how to be a better diver.

Should I continue down the DIR path?

LOL. You're probably right, I probably should've asked this in the advanced forum... So since my Essentials class, I've been working on my buoyancy and propulsion. The S drills, SMB deployment, not so much. I will have to say that after having taking the class, I felt way more comfortable in the...

Should I continue down the DIR path?

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a looong time, but I'm kind of looking for some advice. About 2 years ago, I took an UTD Essentials of Rec class--and failed. I took the class for a few reasons: I wanted to be a better diver, and I was enamored with all the GUE/UTD stuff on this board...

Interesting dive sites near Aurora, CO?

I'm traveling to Aurora for work in a couple of weeks, and I am wondering if there's anywhere interesting to dive within an easy drive away? I'm used to diving in quarries and stuff locally, so I'd be looking for something different than that style, but no caves/etc. Purely a recreational diver...

Why was the Lionfish + HCT thread removed from the Pub?

Why was the Lionfish + HCT thread removed from the Pub? Also, the older locked Lionfish thread seems to have been removed as well?

    New Dive Rite XT's reviews??

Sorry to drag this post up, but in the 6 months or so since your last post on the XT1, any new thoughts? Also, did you find it to have any awkward routing issues for your doubles? I'm looking at a doubles config, and I found a pair of the 1st stages for a really good deal. I would probably...

    Mares Prestige MRS Plus

I'm selling my size "L" Mares Prestige MRS plus. $325 + shipping. It has about 50 dives on it, mixed salt/freshwater. It was serviced in January of this year and has not been dived since.

    Agencies?

I'm glad the OP got the information he was looking for, but I'd just like to point out to the contributors in this thread, that I don't think the discussion on z-system sidemounts, rebreathers, stages, deep dives, etc was what the OP was looking for. I had the same question a few months back...

    Doubles without a manifold

Out of curiosity, how do you manage trim when one side gets lighter than the other?

    Space Shuttle Discovery

The Enterprise is supposed to be smaller than Discovery, so I'm going to try to go to the museum in the next day or two and get some "reference" pics of Enterprise before they wheel in Discovery. :) I'm sure the place is going to be a zoo for the next week or two.

    Space Shuttle Discovery

Anyone else going to watch (or is watching) the Space Shuttle Discovery fly over DC and/or land into Dulles Airport today? My office is on the flight path, so if I get any good pics, I'll post them here.

    Dive Aqaba - Trip Report

Most of the dive operators there that do shore diving will drive you to the beach in their truck and send out a DM/guide with you. If I remember correctly, the "rate" for a shore dive for most of those places is 30JD which includes air, weights, and DM/guide, but I think you can negotiate if you...

    Hose material questions

I'm somewhat confused by the materials for the various hoses that are out there currently. I'm reconfiguring my current regulator setup to have the long-hose, necklace backup configuration, so while shopping around for new hoses, I've come across: * Rubber * Miflex2 * DuoKev *...

    Diving Saudi Arabia

Many muslim women don't take their husband's last name. The issue is going to be to get the Visa, you will have to provide proof of marriage. Your Visa will then have your "husbands" name on it as your traveling companion.

    Diving Saudi Arabia

You may need a marriage certificate to get the Travel Visa. CAPTAIN SINBAD, you're definitely going to want the Visa sponsored by a company, that will give you the most flexibility.

Where can someone get advanced training?

I'm more-or-less in the same boat as you haumana ronin. My problem is compounded by the fact that the easiest accessible open-water dive spot is an algae filled quarry with crappy vis and coooold water (as can be seen by my current avatar pic). And while diving there is better than not...

    Dive Aqaba - Trip Report

Man, security in Amman airports about batteries is ridiculous. Way back when I was a kid, I remember them trying to confiscate my AA batteries for my Gameboy! Cacia: do not ship anything to Jordan via parcel post, it will get stuck in customs for weeks. Wadi Rum is awesome, Petra is cool too. I...
