12 boys lost in flooded Thai cave

I'm not aware of your tech product development background. If it is extensive then this isn't so much a reply to you as it is informative for others. When you develop new applications of old tech, or new applications of new tech, you go thru distinct cycles. Basically you go: People With...

Diver lost his ride and then was joined by unwanted company (video)

Your CONSTANT and RELENTLESS PROMOTION of ACR and that Australian canister got so tiring that I decided to do the only reasonable thing: I bought both of them.

    Cozumel trip report May 3-12

Lovely pics. Like your macros, they came out well. The free-swimming "pelagic" crab is certainly unusual.

FINCLIP, the new accessorie that will make your dives easier!

Also: should have gone with a shorter video.

FINCLIP, the new accessorie that will make your dives easier!

I like that your design simply provides an improved interface between existing fin and strap designs. Among other things this means that any failure mode in your device will result in essentially the exact same, time-tested and thoroughly abused strap design. Quite clever! I just backed for...

    Escaping Down Drafts

Yeah, mine are zipped as well - but that's not what actually takes the force in a pull on mine. All the pull force is managed via the internal cable. That would have to break before the zip ties are even loaded. And what I'm point out is I'm not sure it's possible to yank mine off in a moment...

    Escaping Down Drafts

We had people go from 20 to 120 feet in a well under a minute. That down current didn't stop at 120 feet.

    Escaping Down Drafts

I use my pull dump pretty frequently. I find I can stay compact and better manage movement and trim without having to lift my arm over my head. When I get air bubbles I just wiggle a little bit or I use another dump valve. I've torn it down to check on it more than once and at least in mine...

    Escaping Down Drafts

Somebody mentioned "blasting" air into their BC. yes, you are going to do this. But boy do you need to be ready to dump, because not only might the downcurrent stop - it can very well turn into an UPcurrent, at which point you will be going up nearly as fast as you were going down. This is...

    Escaping Down Drafts

Here are some of my take-aways: Things can go to hell from out of nowhere, and that's okay. Down currents are entirely survivable. Exercise your safety gear - if you are crappy at deploying an SMB in calm, non-emergency conditions you're probably going to be worse when things go pear shaped...

So perhaps the simple rule is "dive sites are named "express" for a reason".

    Escaping Down Drafts

I wouldn't have worried about this until after my Coz down welling. Now that it's happened, it's definitely at least going to become part of my pre-dive briefing discussion.

    Escaping Down Drafts

Covered in depth here: current Here's the original post, but there's more in the thread that's also worth reading, including other accounts from other divers on the same dive:

    Sunscreen - The Best

We wear full length (full arms for me, that plus full legs for my fair-skinned dive buddy) rash guards plus wide-brimmed hats and then use Badger on the few places that might get reflective sun and have pretty much eliminated burning. I don't even really have to think about it anymore.

    Bayahibe 2015 Trip Report

It turned out we spent all our time in-country or on the north central coast. Had a great time overall and had a few days of snorkeling, with the best being Playa Caleton, which was an excellent adventure (we got 27 people into a Daihatsu minivan just to get there!) but frankly it was only...

Hookah Diving In The Dr - Shore Pics

We were on the beach in Cabarete when a boat of locals came in and finished cleaning their catch as they motored out in the surf & then they came ashore. They were three to the boat, with two divers (looked like a father and son) and a skipper. They brought in pretty much something of...
