The very old regs from the 60s lol had rubber ex valves and diaphragms and were looked at every year with sil. they seam to last a verry very long time

sf rec dpt. at rossi pool at 600 argelo st on monday nights from 630 to 930 has scuba instructors on sight for what ever you need they have gear and charge about $30 or so. the pool is large and deep and indoor. at the same time they offer a full 30 hr class for about $140 great value
aquatutus.com and alacosta.org they have been around since the 50s and are very active have sbout 2 or more local dives per mouth and a lot of great overseas dive trips at great prices.
I have had over 30 dry suts since1969 and many more wet suits I now use a low compresion 7mm with real drysuit seals with a 7mm core warmer inside it works my curent stretch kelver drysuit stays in my locker when I dive in norcal waters 4 weeks ago it was 48 at 60
when your suit is dry use pouter when wet use hair conditioner watered down about 50 percent

put a core warmer under a low compassion simi dry. use a farmer john cut off just over the knee pads make sure the seals are the 100% tuck in ones they will hold the water in the low compression neoprine will give you 2 to 3 times more instillation at depth . thats 14mm with 0 water...
Basic classes should include aow and rescue for safe diving with out divemaster buddys in warm water most people need 40 hr class not the typical 20 hr class
