If you want to hear really crazy, I did it some years ago as a day trip from Dahab. Very early morning drive to Sharm, then hours on the boat. Two (good dives) and then did it all in reverse. Looong day, but I did not know when I would be back in Egypt.
I was in both Komodo and Padang Bai late last year (and have dived Tulamben several times). Komodo is awesome, but I would leave it for another 'proper' trip and stay in Padang Bai, so that you maximise the dives you get to do. There are many great sites around Padang Bai, from excellent macro...
I tried to go diving with these guys on a cruise ship stop at Lifou in 2019. Communication was a nightmare and then they didn't turn up when we arrive on the pier. When we got in contact they claimed to already have left, except their boat was still moored in the lagoon! That changed the story...
I stayed at Uepi many years ago and would love to do so again. It was an nice place to stay and the diving was awesome. They do a wreck trip as a day trip I think and there is the WW2 Airplane in shallow water off Seghi airstrip too.
There are a number of land based operators, operating.
My wife and I first did Nusa Lembongan with less dives that that and there were plenty of sites accessible to us. Note that in October the water temp is likely to be similar to what you are used to in Sydney (down to 18 degrees is possible, I've certainly experienced it more than once in Bali)...
When I went with Scuba Republic there was a management restructure going on, so I think it was just bad timing. The people who were taking over the Komodo operation were just starting as I arrived and they seemed to have successfully run a shop in Thailand for many years and the bits they...
That last sentence was my experience in mid October. It was a beautiful site and an easy dive, until the last few minutes when a bigger boat arrived and it started raining divers!
I think you might be mixing up the eVOA with the electronic customs declaration. I certainly got my eVOA much more than 3 days in advance for my trip last month, but you can't do the electronic customs declaration until something like 48 hours in advance, I think.
It looks like I will be on a work trip to India Aug 3 - Aug 17 next year. I could come early or stay late and pop down to Maldives. I would like to do the tiger shark thing in Fuvahmulah but know the timing puts me in the middle of the monsoon. Anyone been to Fuvahmulah in July or August...
That is the normal temp range in Sydney for a chunk of the year and for many years I dived it in a 5mm with a Frogskin top underneath. You were cold by the end of the second dive, for sure. But I have recently acquired a drysuit! Nothing in Komodo or Bali felt really cold to me; I took my 5mm...
My dives with Absolute were all between 45min and 56min, on the basis of air consumption. There were none where I thought 'we came up too early and I still have heaps of air in my tank'.
Correct. He just left and an English guy named Michael (and a woman whose name I can't remember) have taken it on. They seemed both friendly and competent, as did all the local team.
