Underwater Archaeology - Drawing Shipwreck sites. I'm interested

I agree with looking into NAS, I took the Intro to Coastal and Underwater Archaeology course today and absolutely loved it. I plan on continuing in the NAS programs as they become available. NAS is also a Globally recognized program, hopefully the MAST program aligns itself with some sort of...

    Thoughts on these reel(s)?

I have one of those reels, I use it for my Dive flag float. I would not recommend using for a lift bag, at least if lifting anything. The string does not come with a weight rating, and personally I prefer to use 550 paracord for lifting tasks. I would definitely consider using the reel for...

    AOW and deep dives

The deep dive section on the PADI AOW gives a decent understanding of deep diving planning, and safety concerns. In my Class we did a dive to 80' and examined the color loss and limited effects of narcosis during a timed event. I feel it is important after the class to build yourself up to...

Just bought a SeaLife DC1200...did I make a good purchase?

I bought an old rental one from my LDS, turms out I could have gotten a better price, but I am extremely happy with it. If you keep an eye on the o-rings I don't think you should ever have a problem with flooding. the housing is very solid. I have lost m y original rear seal, just glad I check...

    Shore dive question

Every state is different, check your local laws. I have been in a group with about 8 people and 1 flag, if there were 4 flags and we were that close it would have been a real entanglement hazard

    How to make diving affordable?

That price does seem ridiculously high. Diving can be cheap, after the initial investment. I trolled the SB marketplace and found some great deals on barely used and some new items, also there was a sport shop getting out of SCUBA in my area that had closeout prices also. I would watch the...

Open Water Certified Today: Now What?

Try and find a local dive club. Don't sell yourself on specialty classes before you take AOW, some of them do not offer as much substance as others. Wreck diver is recommended if they get into penetration (it is optional) UW Photography in my own opinion is not worth card they charge for, its...

Why are some tanks more expensive?

shop around locally a little more. I got a brand new AL80 at a shop that was getting out of scuba for $130, then this weekend my regular shop got in a couple of used tanks and I picked one up fresh off of hydro for $150 with free fills for one 1 year. I have had it filled 3 times already so...

    Proper care for scuba gear?

I recommend using some mild soap, I use regular shampoo, if you take your gear into a swimming pool. Chlorine does nasty things to neoprene and rubber.
