Roll call: Any old NASDS divers out there?

A little late but I was certified OW via NASDA in 1988. Now SSI AOW.

Thanks NetDoc. Much appreciated and I'll certainly look you up in the future since I live up near Boca and plan on getting down your way soon.

Snarky = Being condescending, sarcastic or a smartass. ---------- Post added September 9th, 2014 at 08:30 AM ---------- I understand and I'm glad it worked out. As someone mentioned previously (& as did your DM/Captain), in some cases a boat will see that and immediately head to you for...

I can see how you can get that vibe, especially since it's incredibly hard to gauge a person via electronic medium. Do I think you're a jerk because of your post? No way. You or Dr. Lecter haven't said anything that's outrageous and I think it's fair to question things. For context, my buddy...

Fair enough. Plenty can be left to interpretation in a forum post.

    Just venting...

I was recently asked during a dive, "Rey, why do you have to get all technical" in a very snarky way. We were on the surface and I had signaled the boat. My buddy started to signal the boat also by waving his arm so I corrected him. He was cool with it but someone else that was with us is the...

Dive knife or line cutter for my BCD

My precise thinking and concern. Better to ask here than to find out the hard way. :)

Dive knife or line cutter for my BCD

I can see your point if they're closed but if opened, the bottom aren't completely blunt, at least from what I see in this picture: Amazon.com: ADC Medicut Shears, 7-1/4", Black: Health & Personal Care Not having used them before, do they lock in place?

Dive knife or line cutter for my BCD

Thanks for the replies. Already had a Trilobyte on my radar so with your recommendations, that's a lock. In terms of the trauma sheers, isn't there a possibility of them puncturing the BCD?

Dive knife or line cutter for my BCD

Hey all, I'm looking for recommendations for a dive knife or line cutter that I can easily hook onto my BCD. Unfortunately, the Cressi Back Jac doesn't have grommet holes to attach one so it looks like I'll need something to wrap around a strap or hang from D-hook. I'm partial to not having too...

Suggestions on getting me out of the office and going pro

@ScubaDoo83 a little late reply but figure I'd jump in since I've been in IT for 25 years, felt what you've felt and done some homework. Honestly, the feedback I've received in the past is that it's a really tough living and certainly not as glamorous as it may seem. The DMs and instructors work...

    Is PDIC still around?

LOL. Thinking you and Trace are mean. ;) Nice to see you still here on the boards, Jim!

    Is PDIC still around?

It did. The owner of the dive operation came over and recognized it immediately so it turned into a positive educational scenario for the person tending to us. Since then, I've gotten my updated SSI card along with my SSI AOW cert. All good for now. :)
