So this is a really old thread that but I wonder if we could resurrect it. I used to be a very active Venice diver and was lucky enough to find a lot of nice teeth. I haven't been out in awhile and I'm wondering if people have noticed a difference in the quality/number of teeth that have been...
You should probably get your ears checked out just to be safe. I had a similar experience to to Ed's post. In my case I did something dumb after making a couple hundred very careful dives. I went diving with a cold, had trouble clearing and forced it inside Ginnie Springs. I felt pain and a...
Lots of people find nice teeth shore diving. If they told you that you can't then that isn't true. However, if you only have a short time here and you have never been fossil diving in Venice before then in my opinion you should go with a charter. They put you right where you need to be and...
I agree with Lee. Scooters aren't as easy as they sound and it's best (in venice anyway) to not go to crazy fanning and stirring up the bottom although some light fanning is alright. Too much and you usually just screw up the viz for yourself and other divers and then you have to wait for it...
Is anybody up for a dive this Friday? I booked a spot with Aristakat Charters this Friday and I am looking for at least a couple other people who might want to round out the trip. C'mon, it will be like the adult version of an easter egg hunt. Any takers?
I might be able to dive if you guys are still looking to put a trip together. Keep me in mind and shoot me an email as you get closer to the date. I'm always looking for an excuse to get out. I've been diving with Jamie on Aristakat many times and we usually do pretty well.
Venice probably isn't the best choice. There are a lot more days of bad vis than good. Probably not the greatest dive for someone just starting out. I agree that the springs would be nice and easy. This probably won't fit into your time frame but the obvious choice would be Key Largo (i'm...
Hey Aeromike. There have been quite a few pieces of tusks found. It's something I have always hoped to come across but nothing yet. If you search this board you can find pictures of some of them. Usually it is just a chunk but they are very recognizable once you find one if you know what...
I'll get up there sooner or later. I may just have to make a special trip. Do you ever dive offshore for teeth in SC? I see the stories about the ledges where people pull up a lot of teeth. Are they still pretty productive? I would like to combine a trip up there where I can do some...
Speaking of Mammoth teeth, here is one I found about a couple of years ago. It cleaned up really nicely. I have seen a number of them found but never one that has so much enamel left on it.
Hey Lee. Just wanted to say that I really enjoy reading your posts. I do a lot of fossil diving down here in Venice. In fact, I dove with Joy about a year ago. I've never been up in your neck of the woods but if I do I would love to look you up sometime. Keep the posts coming.
My wife and I will be taking a cruise Dec 4th-9th on the Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas which docks in Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We will be diving in the Caymans for sure and we aren't too crazy about the idea of doing the ships excursion. We have done a number of cruises and have...
