    Diving Marble Falls

I've dove Inks a couple of times officially and it was strictly braille diving. That was summer/fall though, when it's kinda green. In the winter, I've seen it to be 4-8 ft vis from the "warm" safety of the dock - - but I think that's as good as it gets. I'm sort of presuming that Marble...

Your thoughts on LDS experience thread.......

I'm quite reasonably satisfied. [I should not necessarily be more positive and Mack reads this stuff....] - - I will also note in a perplexed tone that when I had all the Instructors over this summer - Macks answer to "Where did he find me" - - was that "I came with the shop" - - Think about it...

    Kauai Dive suggestions

I'd sort of given up and replying to the "Recomendation Wanted" posts as there seemed to be a lot diverse posts and not all in sync with my experience from a wonderful summer DMing for Sacred Seas [granted - That's getting a bit aged now]. I particularly enjoyed the relatively tight community...

Has anyone dove Aquarena Springs Lately?

It's kind of hard to say for sure as I haven't really gotten around to looking at October yet - but I almost have Sept. under control! I see no reason to have issues wioth Friday 17th - Sat may have me returning to Galveston...

Has anyone dove Aquarena Springs Lately?

Sounds like fun - - I just started at TX State, so Fridays are actually possible. Weekends don't look good - I'm headed to Galveston to start digging out this weekend and Mack has us at the Parks & Wildlife festival Oct 3,4

Has anyone dove Aquarena Springs Lately?

I was in Aquarena a couple of weeks ago with RumBum and Bill - - and it's definitely pretty messy. I took that to be the season - the low flow, high sun - and lack of significant flooding. I've been volunteering for near a decade and it gets this way every now&then - - It's impressive to see...

How much should you tip a dive operator?

Correct, good point - - In HI, the DMs I worked next to were paid about the same for the same work, but got the jobs more often as they needed it. Here in TX - the guys that help with my classes get a free trip to the lake and all the air they can breath

How much should you tip a dive operator?

With kmayer especially - - - the tips were the difference between stopping for a hot plate in Hanalea on the way home or dredging the refrigerator upon arrival! My memory of the norm is the 10%-20% region - - - I also make a point of telling my students that near the end of class while...

    Congrats Chrispete!

There's only a few of us foolish and brave enough to take Melissa in a class - I earned my $ when I did and Chris knows better! Side note to Melissa: I'm looking forward to it! :D

    AND - Congraduations to Mack

He had dodged a couple skills so we had to work him a bit more - - but we went out last night and "just did it" SO - - Now Mack is now also officially a NAUI Instructor! Yeah Mack :D Do give him your congraduations though.....He was a pretty dragging puppy after all that...

    Congrats Chrispete!

Good Job Chris! As Greg said - This is the beginning.....Get used to not having a non-diving life until the summer is over :D I enjoyed working with you guys, now it's going to be even harder to get a dive in. Thanks for the class, I probably learned more than you guys....

    Koloa Landing Dive

One doesn't get that kind of dive very often - - - My "special" dive there was when a Monk Seal came and shadowed us for most of the dive. Nudi - - I have Dragon Eel pictures from the old times, they don't appear to be an easy find, but if I find one even close to suitable to put in front of...

Any ops on/near the north shore of Kauai?

All the good harbors are to the south! There is a couple of shops in Kapa'a and there is a "house" shop at the Princeville Resort - - but that is getting pretty close to it. If you are thinking about a shore dive, almost all of them will bring air & gear to Tunnels and meet you there...
