Roll call: Any old NASDS divers out there?

NASDS certified in 1978. The dive shop was Divers' World in Silver Spring, Maryland. Check-out dives in the quarry at Willow Springs, Pennsylvania. My private instructor was the great Mike Hillier, OWIC 263, who later certified so many divers in Virginia Beach.

What is the best macro lens...

Just returned from my first digital photo excursion. Did some work with an E-PL2 and the PTMC-01 macro conversion lens. Had no high expectations, but was pleased. file://localhost/Users/leecraig/Desktop/Eleuthera%202012/xmas%20trees.jpg...

    E-PL2 flash question

Got it. Will be setting aperture, shutter speed and strobe output manually. So 1/64 should do it. My next time on this message board, I will no longer be a digital UW virgin. Thanks again. (What's up Lee, my namesake!)

    E-PL2 flash question

Bingo! Thank you Phil Rudin. Apparently I turned RC on the first time through the manual. But that mode is for controlling remote strobes through a wireless signal, like in a studio, right? So it is of no use in underwater photography - at least not with strobes triggered through fiber-optic...

    E-PL2 flash question

No, no, cardog. They're all dimmed and cannot be selected in any mode. That was my point. There must be some way to activate those options in a menu somewhere.

    E-PL2 flash question

This is not an underwater photo question, strictly speaking. On Thursday morning I'm off for my first digital photo trip. The E-PL2 is new to me, so I'm familiarizing myself with all functions. I cannot figure out how to set the on-camera flash manually, that is, Full, 1/4, 1/16, 1/64. No...

PT-EP03 questions - antireflective ring and silica gel

Yes, I see. Next lesson came yesterday evening. Went to the bottom of the pool with my new rig, to work out a manual exposure table, wearing a Cressi-sub mask with a yellow frame. Surprise. The reflection of the mask frame in the LCD viewing window made it nearly impossible to see make out...

PT-EP03 questions - antireflective ring and silica gel

Right. But I never used or needed silica in the housings of film cameras. So I couldn't see why it would be different with a digital camera. Epiphany! It isn't the camera. It's the strobes. They're synched by fiber optic cables, which are triggered by the flash inside the housing. The...

PT-EP03 questions - antireflective ring and silica gel

I want to see the problem for myself. I'll know how to deal with it, now. Thanks, all.

PT-EP03 questions - antireflective ring and silica gel

This is my first post. I just received my E-PL2, PT-EP03 and related paraphernalia. The instruction manual for the housing mentions and depicts an "Antireflective ring" on the front of the lens barrel. I suppose that is to prevent light from the built-in flash reaching the inside of the port...
