Having moved east in 2000 i may not have the updated version but we used to dive elephant butte lake alot. The "mecca" in lea lake by roswell was a nice afternoon dive. Navajo lake should be good but cold.

Don't all 8" tanks have the same frontal surface area? 7.5"?
Seems to me with proper trim this wouldn't be a factor.
I can see it making a difference switching between the two dia. but not tank length.
