I used to work dive charters in Lake Erie, Cleveland area. We often had divers very nervous because viz was 10' or less. One thing that most did not like was the affect that the particulate had on their psych. Every where you look on the way down was particulate. It's like being in the center of...
Many divers have way to much weight on their belt because they never take the time to determine the proper weight they need. With to much weight on the front side of their waist and then inflate the bladder you could end up feeling like it's pushing you face downward.
Is there someone in your locale that you can trust to give an opinion as to how much flash rust there is so you have some kind of basis for comparison ?
Unfortunately you can't take a picture so we can see.
Ditto here to Jimmer. All of the "factory" courses I took were laughable. But lawyers like to see the certificate and that's what we live by in the U.S.A.
One of the most important things you MUST do is keep your head up and looking horizontally. If you end up looking down for a period of time it's over. Also, many folks have a habit of inhaling and then holding that breath while doing a task. That also ends your hover and away you go.
If you...
Be aware that DiveRite makes two different manifold rebuild kits. There is one for the coarse threads and one for the fine threads. The threads are referring to the threads on the actual plug and seat assembly. Item 2 and 3 in the Thermo valve parts explosion on the link.
Nitrox-Ready Valves...
As others have said you need to figure out how to relax. A lot of people are not trusting of the regulator / air supply so they get tense about it. A lot of people are scared on their first skydive. It has two things that many people are inherently afraid of, falling and loud noise. Those who...
As others have said, what is serviced in your back yard can be a big plus. There are however many places where a reg can be sent ot be serviced. There are always good arguments about supporting your LDS. If you might be heading toward DM or beyond , buying what the LDS sells can save you some...
I bought the original that was then recalled and replaced with the new improved model. The new one has worked flawlessly for years without any rebuild.
I have some brand new ones if any one needs one.
I suspect that the lack of rotation in your SPG was caused by the use of the wrong air spool. The air spool is the little component that has a tiny O ring on each end.
The link shows a picture of some air spools. There are two distinct designs. One design is just a straight tube with O rings...
If you have a blow nozzle like the one in the link you can direct the air stream at the O ring and it will usually displace the O ring so you can extract it. The blow gun plugs in to your low pressure bcd inflator hose.
Always be carefull with O ring seats especially on plastic. One scratch...
Or you could get this. From DUI.
DOGs Only
DOGs will have a unique opportunity to be among the first test divers of DUI's latest product: Electrically Heated Insulation. While this product will not be released until later this year, DUI is offering DOGs the opportunity to check...
I have been ice diving for a couple years. I have never done anything special. Eat a good breakfast. I have winter camped for many years . With that you want to eat (snack) almost continuosly to keep the fire going. Some folks take a stick of butter to bed with them and chomp on it during the...
Ditto to what dave 4868 said on not wanting to launder the 300. Laundering slowly kills loft. Loft keeps you warm.
I wear a base layer of any kind of polypropylene or synthetic to absorb sweat and pass off water vapor.
I dive 300 DUI and their plus 5 vest in all conditions 34 degrees to...
Not that long ago PADI required a night dive for Advanced. There were some people that couldn't handle a night dive so it was eliminated.
IMO to be a Master Diver a night dive should be mandatory.
The master thing could be beat to death. Pretty much already has.
As someone posted, it...
