    Diving with a GOPRO

That's what I use and love it. I tried a head strap and wasn't very fond of it. Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk 4

can someone tell me the difference between VT 4.1 and VT 4.0?

Thanks. I guess like so many things it works better on paper than in practical application.

Tough little nuts on the weighted STA...quick question?

Mine must have gotten lost some where between H and my door. Mine had flats but no lock washers. Fortunately stainless lock washers are really cheap and easy to come by.

Tough little nuts on the weighted STA...quick question?

I'm a little paranoid and tend to believe they should be used, but for some reason Halcyon didn't supply any and that has me wondering why. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

Tough little nuts on the weighted STA...quick question?

Do you use lock washers on your rig? It seems like they would come loose without them. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

Tough little nuts on the weighted STA...quick question?

Those nylock nuts are a bit@#. I got a new Infinity system and the first time I tried to loosen the nuts I spun out one of the elevator bolts, at least that's what it looked like, in the STA weight. I had to hack into the weight and put a pair of vice grips on the head of elevator bolt to get...

    DIY Backplate...

Thanks Huw what you wrote made perfect sense to me... I'll try to straighten this out today. Also, I purchased an Al Halcyon plate and all of the webbing slots are around 1/4" (6mm) wide as opposed to 1/8" (3mm) I see on your template. Any reason for halving the width of the slots? edit...

    Aladin Prime O-Ring Flood

Not that I'm as much of an expert as the techs at Scubapro but I would argue that desiccant, (silica gel), packs would be much more effective. I always save the packets from purchases in a zip lock baggie and use them in my underwater housings and for situations such as yours. Good luck...

    DIY Backplate...

Thanks, that would fall somewhere between 11 and 12 ga. sheet and around 1/2 mm thinner than 10 ga.

    DIY Backplate...

The angle was taken from Huw Porter's design, Stainless Steel Single-tank SCUBA Backplate , I think it's to help make the straps sit cleaner on the shoulder. As has been stated by everyone else, we are not saving any real $$ building our own plates. I'm fortunate in that I only have to pay for...

Ss. Tank bands and ss. Backplate

I'm thinking 316M might be a little bit of overkill but then again I'm not a metallurgist and 304L is readily available in the scrap pile so that makes it an easy choice for me. For some reason I was thinking 1/4 round bar would do it maybe 1/2, and again, 1/4 dia ss is easily picked from the...

Worked on this a little more today. Attached is another 3D pdf file and a quickie drawing for anyone that's interested... To fully use the 3d file it must be saved to your computer and opened with acrobat.

    DIY Backplate...

I was thinking a tumbler might help round the edges. 10 ga isn't too bad to round the outside edges but I've never had to worry about slots on any material we work with. Aren't backplates typically 10 ga, (0.1345")? My model gives a weight of 6 1/2 # which is in line with stated weights for...
