I've had two Zeagle inflators fail on me now (inflator stuck open and almost corked me, thank god i reacted quick enough to remove the inflator hose while simultaneously holding the deflator button! i had to manually inflate the rest of the dive, but I usually do anyways just to conserve as much...
EXACTLY! look where I am geographically.. oh, whats that? the water I dive year round is the puget sound? hmmm... thank you, John- I'm not out giving bad advise... the people who are "just starting out" are usually diving with a two piece 8mm FJ which gives their total core thickness 16mm.. I...
thats all fine and dandy, but here in the puget sound NOBODY dives less than an 8mm suit.. almost everyone i know dives drysuits..
that said, i'm 180lbs, 10% of my body weight is 18, add an additional 10 lbs and that puts me at 28 lbs. i dive 24 lbs because im usually using a 119hps tank.
i...
i felt it in my fingertips after my second OW dive and talked to my DM about it. he said it is a sort of DCI symptom and he gets it frequently just doing dives in the pool because he ascends and descends so frequently. he said he has never seeked medical attention for it and it has always gone...
SCARED TO DEATH OF DCI!!!! i would spend hours after a dive just waiting for symptoms to kick in. i would fart and think to myself "was that a nitrogen bubble??!!!" or see a zit and speculate on whether or not it was nitrogen leaking from my pores. i eventually read the statistics and focused on...
i wouldnt.. however, i suppose you COULD if you wanted to breathe through a stir-straw at 60 feet.. try your octo at ~60 feet and see how much it sucks to breathe through.. youd be better off just waiting and saving up for a decent primary.
i have a Zeagle Stiletto and i LOVE it. im 6'7, 183 lbs and the 35 lbs of lift it offers with my weighting ( 20 lbs ) is more than enough. i have used the ripcord system in practice at about 10 feet doing a generic CESA. the ripcord controls my two front pockets where i have a 5lb shot bag on...
tip: i found i was opening my mouth too much and "wind-tunnel" breathing through my reg which was giving me really dry mouth and throat no more than 20 minutes into my dives. try "breathing through your teeth" a little more from your reg.. helped me tons.
side note: salt ( prefix to...
I have never heard of any long term hearing problems with any divers I personally know... except one couple who are both deaf.. tho they were deaf before their first dive ;-P
look at it this way; if you blow an eardrum, your underwater communication couldnt be better with fluid sign language...
only one person can decide if youre ready: YOU. dont let anyone give you advice on when you should feel comfortable on a dive. go over the questions you have with your (soon to-be) instructor and express your concerns and see what they have to say. your confidence means everything in how well...
I strongly suggest avoiding Elearning for one simple reason: instructors are there to answer questions, not emails. The individualized help i received from my instructors couldnt compare to just reading online.
just my .02
;)
try an MRE heater, go down with all ingredients in a sealed bag, cut a slit in the bag at your desired depth, inflate the bag a little so you can maneuver the ingredients around in it, activate the MRE heater and melt the cheese. open bag and enjoy!
