    Kona Hawaii

    My buddy and I were there last summer, did a mix of beach and boat dives. I heartily second the recommendations for Puako - we didn't do a guided dive, but followed the directions on shorediving.com for Puako Village End and had no trouble. Two-step / Honaunau is also a great shore dive -...

    Drysuit Advice

    I haven't had problems managing it head-down so far, it's more the venting out the arm valve that's causing me issues right now. The extra size is with my undergarment, which is currently just base layers and a polar fleece jacket (~ 200 wt), so not high-loft or anything like that. I'm just...

    Drysuit Advice

    Hi All, I have a question on drysuit sizing, and in particular what to do about a drysuit that's just... baggy. I bought a new HOG drysuit (bilam) on sale at the scuba show this past May, and while I did send in my measurements to the dealer for a semi-custom cut, the thing is just super...

    "Advanced" Diving in Kona?

    Thanks for the info, Dennis. I'll give them a call about some of the more advanced dives and see if there is a group already. I should have mentioned in my OP, we are definitely planning on doing a couple 2-tank AM dives, the Manta dive, as well as shore diving while we're there - I was...

    "Advanced" Diving in Kona?

    Hi All, My buddy and I are going to leave our cold home waters of SoCal and be in the Kona area during the first week in July. I've been researching the dive ops, and it looks like although they all offer advanced and long-range dives, all of them require a minimum group. Has anyone had...

    f -> fsw -> msw -> m

    OP is right, and both C and D in your quote are false. Erik Baker, who contributes to many of the decompression theory and models in use today, has an explanation in his Introductory Deco Lessions, at ftp://ftp.decompression.org/pub/Baker/Introductory Deco Lessons.pdf. Here is the relevant...

    Lost and Found for SoCal

    Was in enough of a hurry to get in and check out my new drysuit that my computer hitched a ride on my tank valve rather than my wrist :shakehead:. Probably fell off in surf just off the main stairs by the bathroom at around 2:45 this afternoon. Offering reward for its safe return.
