Cozumel chamber rides without DAN coverage

I talked with a person whose spouse took multiple chamber rides. They did not have DAN coverage but apparently their Allianz coverage took care of the significant bill. That is not confirmed and I am curious if anyone has used Allianz to cover chamber rides and associated medical care.

Can dive boats allow tracking of their position?

The website at the bottom can be adjusted to move to the Gulf of Mexico then scroll in to the Cozumel area. You will see cruise ships, boats from both ferry companies, possible cargo/car ferry boats and a few others. I am guessing that they use the DSC function. Are there any dive boats...

"You never see anything interesting in a swim through"

You are free to repeat the story and correct any mistakes in my recollection. Here goes. I have done swim throughs in Cozumel...including Devil's Throat. As my diving preferences evolve/change, swim throughs have become less and less interesting to me. After all, you NEVER see anything in...

Dive ops who spend their surface interval at a beach club.

Of the many attributes/services of a dive op, stopping at a beach club between dives is one of my requirements. This thread will document those dive ops who do so. Years ago I was with a dive op who stopped at a pier and we had to walk north to use a restroom...possibly Playa Palancar. Unless...

Ron Lee's Personal Rules for Diving in Cozumel

Perhaps you heard about the "Rules" book that two young girls had hand written. It was lost at a Walmart and finally returned to them. From the ones I saw...basic good rules for a decent society. I am going to include a few of my diving rules. 1) Always monitor/watch over women divers...

Hurricane Sandy: Possible impact to US flights

Hurricane SANDY Monitor official progress and your airline for travel impacts. Being flexible on travel dates may work in your favor but with seats sometimes limited, quick decisions on changing flights may be more successful than waiting until the airline does it for you. Also keep in...

Aldora, Villa Aldora, Ik Kil cenote, Chichen Itza, Valladolid, Courtyard by Marriott

Flights: Delta planned for COS – ATL – CUN. A possible battery problem lead to a call to Delta to check on options since my layover was only about 70 minutes. A later flight out of ATL was not possible but they offered American to DFW then CUN (Plan B). It got to CUN about two...

    What an awesome morning

I just checked the Scuba Club webcam and it looks like the type morning that puts a skip in your walk. Clear blue sky. Warm but not oppressive heat. That special feeling you get when the day is just beginning and you are about to go diving. Sigh Scuba Club Cozumel Dive Resort - Cozumel, Mexico

    Rescue aids

The following discussion has been split off from the thread regarding the recent boat sinking off Cozumel and subsequent hours the passengers spent adrift waiting for rescue. I just found the Nautilus Lifeline GPS/VHF radio online. Interesting device. Apparently it is rated to a depth of...

    Changes on Cozumel

It seems that this may be a better place than the thread drift elsewhere: I will start with two thoughts. One was the other thread and a new one While looking at Google Earth, I saw some significant construction just northeast of the Caleta. One almost square section appears to be filled...

    Aldora DIN valves

In another thread a comment was made that Aldora uses (possibly only) DIN valves. That was probably true many years ago but they seem to now use a convertible DIN/yoke valve. The following link may be representative Buy.com - Thermo by XS Scuba Din/Yoke Valve pro 3442 PSI EANX So if your...
