Advice re: Scubapro Mk5 or Mk10 DIN conversion

 That's great news! I am waiting for my brass washers, which should be similarly sized, so that I can DIN-ify my Mk5 SPEC.

Scubapro Mk10 - low intermediate pressure

I tried tribolube in place of silicone grease on the piston and dynamic piston o ring, per suggestion from @lexvil . No improvement in the low IP at 300 psi suppy pressure. Next, I added a shim, specifically a 0.010" one. That means I have four shims in the Mk10, three 0.015" shims and one...

Scubapro Mk10 - low intermediate pressure

That is very interesting. I have some tribolube and can certainly give it a try.

Scubapro Mk10 - low intermediate pressure

Sure, an IP of 125 is within spec, but the 119 IP at 300 psi supply pressure is below spec. I will add that fourth shim, maybe even tomorrow, and see if that brings the IP within spec at both 300 and 3000 supply pressures.

    Regulator Options for GUE

I know someone who is selling two well maintained Scubapro Mk25s for a fair price. PM me for details.

Scubapro Mk10 - low intermediate pressure

Well, that's not exactly true ... I did use silicone grease rather than Christolube. Maybe I should be really daring and add a fourth 0.015" shim???

Scubapro Mk10 - low intermediate pressure

My service kit was an aftermarket one with just one seat.

Scubapro Mk10 - low intermediate pressure

I am having trouble with a regulator with low IP. I just rebuilt a new-to-me Scubapro Mk10 that appears not to have been serviced since the turn of the century -- the "next service sticker says, "Sep. 00." The seller had noted that he couldn't get a pre-servicing IP on it, so I did not test...

Advice re: Scubapro Mk5 or Mk10 DIN conversion

Many thanks to all for the recommendations. I found a different "easy out" solution: 1. Go to a small hardware store run by a older Russian immigrant and his brawny son. Watch the blank faces as you tell them you are looking for a "bolt extractor." 2. After looking around at the thinly...

Advice re: Scubapro Mk5 or Mk10 DIN conversion

I was using a 4mm hex bit. I go both ways. Now I have to figure out how to remove the damaged DIN conversion kit....

Advice re: Scubapro Mk5 or Mk10 DIN conversion

I just said two words. First word: "Oh." @couv kindly sold me a lovely looking Mk10, unserviced, along with a service kit. I just completed the rebuild and installed the Scubapro Universal conversion kit, torquing the allen socket to the specified 265 inch-pounds. But then trouble struck...

Advice re: Scubapro Mk5 or Mk10 DIN conversion

My DIN conversion project is on hold until I receive my new-to-me Mk10 from @couv -- thanks, @couv ! @Angelo Farina , what size brass washers did you order? Were they metric sized, SAE, or USS? I am having trouble finding any that are approximately 14.5 mm OD and 0.9-1.0 mm thick. @lexvil...

Advice re: Scubapro Mk5 or Mk10 DIN conversion

Well, this is interesting ... and disappointing. My Mk5 with the thin yoke has an HP port that is LP-sized (3/8" rather than 7/16"). I see that Piranha sells an HP hose with a 3/8" male end for just such circumstances, but I may just invest the money in later model Mk5 or a second Mk10.

Good point, Angelo, about the washer being in an air-only zone.

Advice re: Scubapro Mk5 or Mk10 DIN conversion

The question I have about using a brass washer (or two) as a spacer is this: Won't it corrode in salt water? Jammed in there under torque, I wouldn't expect it to rinse well. In following thread, Awap mentions his brass washer fix, and another user mentions a couple of stainless steel...

    Scubapro Regulator ID?

@couv : One of my Mk5s has the S.P.E.C., just like the original poster's photo. Seeing the "Important Note" in the instructions page you posted makes me wonder: If I don't have/use the boot, do I need to pack the cap with silicone grease (or more modern substitute)? My coldest diving these...

Advice re: Scubapro Mk5 or Mk10 DIN conversion

Thanks, @tbone1004 . I have discovered VDH's excellent selection of parts. And it was the video series by @Bryan@Vintage Double Hose that made me realize that the service procedure is not rocket science. I just finished reading Regulator Savvy, too, so I'm not completely ignorant of the...
