    REVIEW: CREE MC-E Diving Light

Yes, I have noticed it is a very snug fit, and you can easily mess up an o-ring if you're not careful putting the end cap on. I continue to dive mine with no issue, but I am very meticulous when taking the batteries in and out.

    REVIEW: CREE MC-E Diving Light

I thought of buying one of thes. My issue is no one here carries it local, and I am concerned about size. My hands are pretty big, and diving up here means 5mil gloves. You think I could fit it around all that?

    Hiding your certification level

I always fall back on the point that I always dive nitrox on charters. Therefore, I present my nitrox card when asked. I think it is reasonable that you only take one card with you on vacation. The one that is needed for the dive you are doing.

How long a tank can remain fully filled?

A tank can remain filled pretty much indefinitely. Obviously thats assuming normal storage conditions. A tank remaining pressurized does not degrade the tank; rather it is the constant pressurizing and emptying of a tank that stresses, loads and stretches on the steel until it becomes weak...

    Diving out of Seattle?

I actually sent the PM to jc60625, but I am happy to dive with you, too. I am pretty flexible and available weekdays from 4pm on, and pretty much whenever on weekends. I know pretty much all the local shore dives. I am in the Tacoma area if that is conveinient. I would most likely bring my...

    Hiding your certification level

I often do this, just because I want to relax, and don't want to be relied upon to help babysit. Something I have had happen in the past. To be honest, just being a cold water PNW diver was enough for a charter to treat me as a "skillled" diver and was actually told - "well I know I won't need...

Ok, so have you had to call a dive for this . . .

I have ear and sinus issues all the time. My ears will bother me after almost every dive. Sinus meds never really seemed to help. I discussed this with my Doc, and she gave me Flonaise spray. I use it at the slightest hint of any stuffiinesss, and start using it everyday if I know I have a...

    REVIEW: CREE MC-E Diving Light

Yeah, he is making it from stainless steel. Since it is for free, and sort of a side project, there is a little bit of delay. I should have it in about another week. Unfortunately, he is out of town right now so things got delayed longer than expected. As soon as I get it, I will post some pics

    Argon bottle set-up question

They did in my drysuit class- and I have since had to use it! One time I had my inflator valve stick when I added air and it wouldn't turn off. I did the neck dump and wasable to control my ascent, but it was freaky. I finally got it to release but it wasn't until I got to the surface. Got...

    Argon bottle set-up question

I recently got a good deal on a used pony bottle, and I got a spare 1st stage lying around, so I was thinking I may set this up for argon. I was at my LDS, discussing it with someone there, and Iwas told that with Argon, I had to have an over-pressure release valve on the first stage. Is this...

    Finally !!! Wheeewww !!!

Exactly, I guess it would be "cool" to have bought exactly the perfect gear the first time, but that doesn't make you very well rounded. Not to slam anyone with this, but even though I do now dive a DIR configuration, it's hard to take a guy seriously who has only dived one set of gear who...

    Finally !!! Wheeewww !!!

Welcome to the sport Capt. Jim- and congratulations on conquering any lingering fears and getting it done. I actually had a similar experience on my first check-out dive, in my case the reg went into free flow on the reg removal drill. I couldn't get any air off it, and the DM next to me...

    Regulator Questions?

IF you aren't going technical and your area is primarily yoke, you will be fine with that. Here in the PNW most hardcore divers use DIN, but that is because steel tanks are the norm here, for the added weight, that often means high pressure DIN fittings, tho LP tanks have a big following too.

Which mask? single, double, 3 or even more windows?

All good advice- I agree fit and low volume are the two biggest suggestions I would make. Not to start a debate, but I would also reccomend a black skirt over a clear skirt. Clear skirts are designed to "let the light in" which they do, but have a negative side efffect of decreasing your pupil...

Advice about diving in G Cayman?

Sunset House is also really close to where the cruise ship docks. Just to the right on the main road there, past the tourist section. (take a very short 1 mile cab ride if you are bringing gear- otherwise rent there) If you really want to save $$$ you can shore dive with an easy entry (ladder...
