Who dives both PDC & SPG?

I think my setup is like yours. I have an AI wireless computer and a pony gauge mounted on my primary stage. Like you, I use this to confirm initial fill. Since I "always" run out of bottom time (no deco), before air, I'm not too worried if I lost my transmitter. Also, I only partner w/my...

    atomic swivel & Mk25/s600

I have a Mk25/S600 rig, and I just installed the Atomic Universal swivel on my reg. Took all of 5 minutes, which included cleaning the threads/o-rings, and applying silicone grease to o-rings. Another plus, the Atomic hose is slightly longer than the Scubapro.. I'll be diving this in April.

    Need help getting Atomic Aquatics

Go on the Atomic website, and get their corp. #. Give them a call, and explain your situation. They'll authorize the closest dealer to sell to you by mail. I just did this with them for another Atomic item. Had my item in 4 working days.

    Simple Bio Fins question

I also have a pair of bio fins. The one thing to be aware of regarding trim: When you stop finning, and just float, your feet will drop under you and pull you into an upright position. Not a problem unless you're over coral and trying to hover close. If so, just don't stop finning... That...

    Bottom timer

Timex Helix. Find one on ebay. I use +2.00 reading glasses and can read this underwater w/out any bifocal lenses. This watch has two modes of timing a dive plus stopwatch features..

Need a cheap but reliable back up computer

Watch and dive tables. Best backup you can have. If you really want a bottom timer, try to find a Timex Helix. They're still avail. on ebay for about $50-60.

    Computer back up

If you use the Stinger as a back up and violate it, it will "lock up" and be useless for the next 24 hrs.. If you don't own any gear now, don't buy a backup. Use a watch, plan your dives (with the dive tables) and understand that if your computer dies while down, you switch to your watch...

Which computer among these 3 ??

Go w/the Oceanic. Let's YOU manage how conservatively you dive (unlike Suunto). My wife and I have: Datamax Pro Plus, and a VT PRO. Oceanic provides great service.

    Timex Helix DM Instruction Manual

Or send a message to timex (the site will come up when you look for the manual). They'll send you the .pdf file for the watch: I just got a copy last week.

    Timex Helix Battery Removal

No, they're part of the cover. Use the tweezers to pull the fingers back from the hole. This will expose the tab that's holding the fingers in the hole. Then just pull up on the finger. Repeat on each finger until you have the cover free. Take off, replace the battery and then reverse the...

    Timex Helix Battery Removal

I replaced the battery in mine, after it got wet. From what I remember, the sticker inside is there to tell you how to reset the watch once you install the battery. The cover has a few fingers on it. These have tabs on the ends, and fit into holes in the watch body. I used a pair of tweezers...

    Atomic Z1 vs ScubaPro MK25/S600 or G250

My wife and I have SP Mk25/G600 units. We do exactly the same type of diving that you do (warm water trips and live aboards). These units are tremendous. Also, I feel that we could field repair them if required during a trip. My wife is very sensitive to cracking pressure, and she finds this...

Anyone regret buying the Oceanic VT Pro?

I have a VT Pro and like it very much. I put a "pony bottle" pressure gauge on my reg so that if I loose the signal, my buddy (my wife) can read my pressure. This gauge is also sold by Oceanic for approx. $50. My wife and I have only used Oceanic's and have always liked them, and the service...

    Timex helix user help

"At surface pause" stops the dive timer when you reach the surface. "...continue" keeps it going. I use mine in the "pause" mode as a quick confirmation of total dive time. I reset once I've logged the time, prior to my next dive.

Washing wetsuits in the washing machine

I"ve been washing all our wetsuits (4 total) like that for 10+ years. I haven't seen any damage to the suits. All suits are 3mm.

    The great travel BC topic

I have a Seaquest Balance, and really like it. Packs down small, very streamlined, and stable. Be advised, I'm biased: I only dive "tropical" and have no interest in a BP/W setup.. Can you "demo" anything from the shop you work in? That would let you try different rigs and see what YOU...

    Installing a regulator/inflator

I had the same problem installing a Tusa Air Source to a Seaquest BCD. My LDS sells an adapter hose that is the right diameter at each end (bigger at the Reg, smaller at the BCD connecion) to attach with no problems. Also, this hose is longer which makes using the reg. much more comfortable. I...

    Info

My wife and I both have Oceanic AI units. Hers is a Datamax Pro Plus (hose), mine is a VT Pro (hoseless). Here's what I like about are units: --BIG numbers, easy to read underwater (esp. since I wear reading glasses). --Very simple screens, with limited data. Easy to scroll through other...

Thinking of moving from AI to non-AI but...

My wife and I both use AI computers (Oceanic Datamax Pro Plus and VT Pro). I prefer an AI simply because I only have to look at one instrument to get all critical info. I don't know your skill level, but personally I run out of bottom time before I run out of air (stricly recreational diving)...

    Husband & wife buddies

There are Alot of good suggestions/comments already, so I'll just add one more suggestion: Talk w/husband before the trip, and get him to agree that YOU lead the dive trip. YOU be the primary diver, and have him follow YOU. When you get out, debrief in private, and see how it went. Take...
