    Stupid 12-50mm ED question

I'm not sure what your point with this question and comments are. With the 12-50mm you ask about minimum focus distance, which implies how close you can get to the subject, at each end of the zoom, and still be able to focus properly. Then with the 60mm you mention not having a focus ring...

OMD Em5 with OLympus housing and 60mm lens - Whats not right in settings?

Ardy, I found with my E-M5 that when using BF/LF to shift the lens, the settings F-stop and speed would change to some preset values. Usually nowhere near the settings I would want to shoot with, and it was not programmable. My workaround was to use the BF/LF function to set the desired focal...

Couple of Issues with 12-50 lens in macro and normal mode

A word of caution on the 1 fish/3 fish zoom function. As I remember it, it also changed the aperture and speed settings to some preset values, different at each end of the zoom. I had to use the mode wheel to take it out of manual and back and then change the f-stop and speed to what I wanted...

Couple of Issues with 12-50 lens in macro and normal mode

I no longer have an E-M5, I have an E-M1, so I don't know if the E-M5 firmware has been updated to include the 'electric zoom' function. The E-M1 does have this function. I believe the latest firmware is V 2.0. Check to see if you can set one of the buttons to 'electric zoom'. If you can, when...

Need advice on EM1 + Nauticam system

I'm using 2 INON Mega Float Arms on my rig. They provide -1300g of buoyancy, which works out well. One problem I have is that when I tip the camera forward to take a shot, I'm fighting the arms. They want to float in a vertical orientation. To set them at a backward angle means coming up with an...

    Viewfinders for Nauticam EM-1 System

There is also the option to buy a viewfinder that fits in the thicker hole of the window for the enhanced viewfinder. It costs around $130. It also provides some magnification. It's called: Nauticam Optical Viewfinder 0.66x. Make sure it will fit your housing. Bob W

Need advice on EM1 + Nauticam system

Only partially true. If you do not get the $800 macro port you do lose the ability to change the lens into macro mode. But you still have the option of getting the zoom gear, or using the electric zoom function of the E-M1, to zoom between 12mm and 50mm. Bob W

Oly E-M1 housing – Contemplating between Olympus and Nauticam housing (non pro usage)

"I assume that in that case, I will not be able to use the zoom gear but only switch electronically between 12 to 50mm." You can also set one of your buttons so that you can zoom between 12 & 50mm using the arrow keys, stopping anywhere in between. Bob W

    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls

The actual wording of the Florida Statute pertaining to dive flags is a bit convoluted and should be easy to argue, if ticketed. It states that "All divers must display a flag..." but in the next section allows for "Groups of divers". The actual requirement is that "All divers must make a...

    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls

And I'm sure many others here will think of your video as a "Self Portrait of an A******"! Most reputable instructors try to imbue their students with, in addition to the proper skills, a respect for the environment in which they will practice those skills. But you've shown us, many times, you...

    Blue Heron Bridge Trolls

Don't know the final resolution. They were still on the bench, in discussion with the 2 sheriff's deputies and the FWC officer, when we left the park a few minutes after 10:00 PM. Seems officers were there for the purpose of doing flag checks on the West end. They had night vision scopes looking...

    Good Bye Matt (SFL Diver)

The FAU campus police are known for being to quick to ticket. Will it be necessary for non-students to stop and get a parking pass? Or will they be a little more forgiving on Monday evening? Bob
