    First time Cayman advice?

Welcome to Cayman. I'm confident you're going to have a great time. As for expenses, outside of diving, costs are really what you make them to be. My wife and I have done both "budget" and "high-end" trips to the island, although I think we really just enjoy a relaxing dive-filled week with...

Port Lucaya May 8-15th Any suggestions dive buddies?

My wife thought the Unexso dolphin dive was quite fun. The rest of the diving was mostly along the coral troughs that line the area like a million little canyons. We saw grouper and barracuda working over the single largest baitball I've seen in my entire life on our last trip down there...

    Turks and Caicos

Gotta agree with the earlier poster... Caicos Adventures did a phenomenal job on our trip in April of 2005. Every day we would get back to Sibonne, our little boutique hotel next to the Sands on Grace Bay and swap stories with divers from other operators. We consistently hit better sites, saw...

    Lucaya Bahamas Diving

We dove a couple of days with Unexso on our last Freeport trip. If you're staying at Our Lucaya, it's ultra-convenient to walk across the street and get on the boat in the marketplace. Scott

Info on Jim Sands memorial reef off cemetery beach?

My wife had the same experience with that Angel last year! We were diving with Keith and CaymanCase and the angel stayed under her arm for over 30 minutes and even followed us up through the safety stop. One of the most memorable experiences in my entire diving life!

    Stowing Octopus

I was watching a special on Discovery... apparently octopi can get out of very tight spaces, so one has to be very cautious when storing an octupus. PADI training at its finest! :-)

Any NC divers out there that live in the Charlotte area?

Matt- We're in Huntersville, so hello! The most active group I've seen was at Open Water Adventures in Concord. They take a lot of weekend trips out to the coast if you're looking to take in some local diving.

    Iberostar and Dressel in Jan

Yes, Dressel does run a bigger boat, but ... 1. The packages work out nicely over the course of a week. 2. Being onsite, they're very convenient and will let you keep your gear at the shop. 3. They're a good safe outfit. Sure, for the advanced diver, I know there are more agressive...

need shore dive info for Grand Cayman

I know I've sent out links for GC shore dives a few times. You might run a search. Also, the dive center next to the south terminal has access to some great dives (devil's grotto, eden rock, paradise reef). I can't remember which of the shops right there has $7US tank rentals with $5.50...

In SD this week and looking to dive...

...Just like a bunch of Californians to hijack an otherwise public forum and use it for their own purposes. Just kidding... The answer is no, I couldn't find anyone diving after work midweek, so I went ahead and trotted up to Pasadena and drank away my sorrows at a little wine bar. Better...

In SD this week and looking to dive...

Hello all- I often visit my company's facility in San Diego and it looks like my calendar will free up enough to get in a dive after work on Wednesday. Does anyone know of an operation that does shore dives in the late afternoon in La Jolla? I've seen lots of folks diving while walking the...

Not really a bait ball per se, but amazing

I just got back today from Grand Bahama, not exactly a mecca of diving by did have one amazing experience. Sunday afternoon we were diving West Ann Reef, a rarely visited mid-depth reef Southeast of Freeport. My buddy and I were following the surge channels in the reef structure, a continuous...

Who from the Carolina's NC/ SC

Just noticed the post... Scott and Susan Beach in Huntersville, NC up here on the north side of Charlotte. Good to see there are so many Carolinians who don't get offended when I tell them to "get wet". I can't say that we've been all that involved in the Carolina diving scene, having...

    The great travel BC topic

I've seen previous posts where people loved the Cressi Aqualight BC. It weighs virtually nothing and is very flexible to pack. I use the Cressi AquaPro as my everyday BC and love the feel. The AquaPro is slightly more substantial than the Aqualight but offers weight integration. Cressi...

Dive Shop Recommendation in Playa Del Carmen

We spent some time in Coz and Playa last summer. Because we were staying at the Iberostar, we did a great deal of diving with Dressel Divers, the onsite operator. We found their DMs to be very knowledgeable and aware of the situation around them. They were always the first to point out cool...

    New Apeks Question

Apeks regs have white filters, at least my TX-40 does. I noticed that too because my wife's Aqualung Titan LX is a grey mesh.

I know EXACTLY where you are... spent time in the CIC myself. As far as I know, they dive til it hurts.

I grew up in KC, as did my wife... great town, albeit landlocked. Welcome aboard!
