Aladin battery power, how far can I go?

Well, I don't know it is oil-filled, but so far the dive computer is still working. Last time I check (6 months ago), the battery power is down to 2-3%, so I think it has gone through a lot of dives and still working.

Aladin battery power, how far can I go?

Well, if you have background in electronic, know how to soldering very well (note: VERY WELL), you should be able to change it yourself, provided that you can find the replacement battery. Before anyone else shouting at me about the risk, etc, etc, a friend of mine has successfully replace his...

    Suunto Gekko

There are a lot of thread discussing about Suunto Gekko. I almost bought one, but switch to Vyper, sold on special price :D. My friend use one, and it is good enough.

    Reel from a meter tape

I tried it once with my SS knife (not dive knife). It still rust. Hope you have better luck. Benny

    Underwater GPS

Well..... few hundreds feet is enough to get lost. I might consider one if they work.... not the bluetooth one, but something which you can bring in your pocket BC or in place of your compass. I'll wait for the technology :D. Benny

    VERY simple light ideas?

In my opinion, you'd better buy rather than DIY for backup light. I bought my backup light for less than $10. In case you insist, the Air Speed Press book have some simple plan to make small dive light, which I think quite suitable for backup. Benny

To backup or not and with what?

If you can afford a backup pooter.... why not. But unfortunately I can't afford such, so I just check that I still have enough battery power, and bring a watch. Benny

Problem with Suunto interface - missing dives

Agree with mer. Can you see the missing dives from the Dive Computer Logbook? If not, it might be overwritten already. Benny

    Regulator Bags

Agree, except.... I put my BC at the bottom, put the reg inside, with my drybox (which contain my backup light), then strap the cummerbund strap. Put wetsuit on top of it, and fins on the side. And as Larry said, my friend travel with reg inside his cabin bag, and always being asked in every...

Weight Integrated safer than weight belt?

A buckle can fail, so does an integrated weight of a BCD. I'd rather agree with scubatoys, it is more comfortable, but I doubt that they are safer. Benny

    Hoseless wings

Wireless one? Still thinking the manual inflation method, though. :eyebrow:

    Hoseless wings

Depends on the objective you're trying to achieve.

Can we rely only in a computer?

Thats probably one of the contributing factor against electronic SPG. I will try to comment from logical point of view. 1. Digital SPG requires battery, analog one doesn't 2. Digital SPG employs additional compartment to keep the electronic part and battery, another point of failure 3. My...

    Prusik rope for reel

Hmmm.... that's a good point. Probably a little load when I strain it to see the gauge.

    Suggestion for mini gauges

Aqualung Mini Combo. The pressure Gauge leak once, but the LDS replace it FOC. Another one to consider: IST. Looks like Aqualung Mini COmbo, but I think cheaper.

Can we rely only in a computer?

ZenSquirrel, I look at it from time to time, especially after 30 minutes of dive. But having know your Average Air Consumption Rate will make you more confidence in case of Gauge Failure. The reason I didn't trust AI is the electronic. I believe that for pressure gauge, electronic will have...

    Prusik rope for reel

Well, I'm using the rope for attaching my console to my BC. I think I will see how long do they last before using them for reel. Thanks. for the help. Benny

    SmartPro vs. Vyper

I'm sure Vyper and Vytec has same conservatism, so if you are more on the making max use of your bottom time, Vyper will still be conservative, in comparison to Vytec. A little bit on conservatism, the dive comp calculation is based on mathematical model. No divecomp can assure 100% safe...

    Prusik rope for reel

Thanks for mentioning the sands and trapped salt. But when you brought it underwater, does the salt suppose to be dissolved again? The only logical reason for the sands to destroy the rope is, the sands add friction to the core when being used, which in turn destroy the core. If the salt is...
