Well, at least we can still walk by Senor Frog's on cruise day and gawk at the cruiser drunks with silly balloon animals on their heads. Good post dive entertainment

Picking a new op with pier pickup at Blue Angel

Sorry. He’s with Blue Project. Brain fart. We are considering BA and actually have booked that way, but our once 8 person group shrunk to 4 (they missed booking) and were told a large group coming in. Looking at options as we don’t necessarily want to get subsumed by that group which may...

Picking a new op with pier pickup at Blue Angel

for 15 or so years until 2019 we used Blue XTSea, primarily for the crew and Pedro Pablo. I know he is with Deeper Blue but they won't do a pier pickup at BA and we don't want to schlep. We may be diving with BA but looking at options. Because we used the same op for so long, I really don't...

Question How does Cozumel compare to other dive destinations?

I haven't read all of the replies, so forgive any repetition. We've done a lot of diving similar to yours, have 1K plus dives, based in L.A. Earlier in our dive career, we didn't get why everyone goes to Coz all the time, bit of a PITA to get there, hotel was fine (Casa Mex usually). Then we...

shuttle from airport to hotels - is it worth it to pre-order?

You get in the van, if you and your luggage are enough to fill it up, off you go. If there is room, you wait until it is full, and off you go. Thankfully it is air conditioned. People and luggage get dropped off in geographical order

shuttle from airport to hotels - is it worth it to pre-order?

Nope. Gather luggage, avoid the touts, head to the shuttle desk, pay the pesos or dollars, get on and as soon as it's full off you go

Advice needed for just one or two muck dives in North Sulawesi

Lembeh is always worth an extra hassle. Maybe two. No idea about just a day boat op, sorry. We used NAD and they were awesome

Just booked a trip in November. Now whether to disclose this info to my wife. Sure the odds are very low of an interaction and more dangerous driving to the airport, but optics and all

It's a shame. One time we happened upon a wedding, so got some water from the shop across the street and hung out and watched the bridal procession arrive. Another time came on a festival in a park. I always loved seeing this slice of life in Coz

I was going to ask this... we've walked a few times back to Melgar from La Perlita. I don't know Coz neighborhoods nor would I know which ones to avoid (if there are any). I would think we would cab anything more than a few blocks in from the square

    Hotel Cozumel or Casa Mexicana

We stayed in the Casa Mex city view rooms once. Felt like we were in a dark jail. Would not do that again. I used to like Casa Mex but there is no real place to go and relax (chaise lounges overlooking Melgar), so overall it's not very relaxing to me. I only walked thru once but at least...

Friend of mine that winters in coz posted this story elsewhere, said there have been several shootings and five murders since his arrival last November. Used to feel totally fine walking around in the neighborhoods east of town. Walking back from La Perlita to Melgar.... Now not so sure.
