OOA Buddy starts to drag you up by your octo - What would you do?

:D Some things are just to dumb on the face of it to even bother attempting it in real life cause ya know when the crap hits the fan and the guy actually is spooked it ain't gonna work. This is one of those things. lol :) regards

What is the deepest you can do an OOA?

I think it's safe to say you're talking so far over his head, it's pretty well useless to go much further. He didn't understand a damn thing you said, and with that lack of scope he doesn't stand a chance in figuring it out any time soon.

OOA Buddy starts to drag you up by your octo - What would you do?

lol yeah, like that's going to work in the three-four seconds you're going to have in an actual ooa/panicked buddy.....lol. Of course you're doing all that unclipping while he's pulling everything tight and you controlling your own buoyancy in that short period of time. lol If that ain't the...

Keep the bottles, one on each side for balance if you're using steel. You might need the 60lb wing though if you're doing that. Personally I use the 50lb wing when doing deep air dives and steel deco bottles, but I go to the 45lb one for trimix dives with ALU40 deco's. Now, I want my $50.00...

Maybe you can understand why it is some of us are having a hard time keeping up with what you're really saying. On the lighter notes, an 80lb wing is stupid and sold by shops that don't understand the difference between weight of the tanks and gas vs, the buoyancy of such. Let's start the...

Specialty Courses - not the usual question

I figured you would, I just didn't need to get into it with those that may disagree. I can only handle 6 or 7 scuffles at a time :) But seriously, they really should attempt a re-write on madatory classes so everyone gets the opportunity to learn this, and not just yours and a few others...

Specialty Courses - not the usual question

Then again, there's nothing in that gas mangement class that should already be in a basic outline in mandatory classes. Maybe they need to encourage their agency to include it there instead.

Specialty Courses - not the usual question

It called a destinctive specialty Beej. It's in the Instructors manual (how-to). It must be submitted and OK'd by Padi prior to one teaching it as a Padi course. The most classic of all has to be the golfball recovery specialty . (Do a search).

Unfortunately this classic cart before the horse thing is quite common and I suspect you are entirely correct.

I think what he needs to do is talk to his instructor, tell him straight away there's no possible chance for him to be ready for a deco course, and then list all the reason why this is so. Then he and his instructor need to sort all this out, either on an intro to tech style course or some...

Ah OK I missed it. He needs a Padi DSAT course then if that's how he wants to do it. They are pretty keen on personal preference from what I have seen from the material.

Hey Jeff my brother, this is nothing. Too bad you can't read certain other forums. It does however make reading this particular thread that much more fun with this guy. He had all the answers there too. Seems as though telling someone they're just dead wrong isn't the way to go anymore. We...

SparticleB: There's a lot to be said for mentoring. I'd like to know who it was that started you down the path you've taken. It surely is a less traveled one.

    Routing a 5ft Octo Hose

Oh, I know you're not an instructor. Some of the best divers I know are not instructors, and do not have a desire to be one. That just hurts too much to think about. They are exactly what this sport needs because what we have now is 12-beer-ugly, and ain't working. :D

    Routing a 5ft Octo Hose

You need to have this discussion with a few Instructors on this board in the I to I Forum. They are creating wholely useless divers because they ask nothing of them at all and they will excuse you to death like an 8 yr old why they do it that way. ;)
