Concur with BT. Using the inflator as the OCTO makes for ackward ascents sharing air, especially from "deeper" depth where you have to let out a lot of air for controlled ascents. Read Deeper= 50'+

As Grumpy said, don't count on 8 mile range. Depends on how high the boat antenna is. That said, the DSC alert whch is just data will go further. And better range to an aircraft, assuming of course it was equipped with Marine Radio AKA USCG Search aircraft. And BTW they are not always up on CH16...
