    Dumb scuba products

So while thinking about my old regulators as well as considering a BP/W at some point, I remembered reading about the old Dacor HUB and did a Google search. Not many results. Seems it wasn't The Future Of Dive Gear that it was hyped to be, and even though I never owned one and am really not...

Taking stock of my old regs

I might take you up on that. It's a mid/late '90s Dacor Enduro with the flexible rubber 2nd stage cover/purge. I don't have a model number or anything like that.

Taking stock of my old regs

I have considered it, actually. It would be nice to at least try on the Enduro in order to teach myself how it all goes together and works, using what I gather is a sort of worst case scenario. (How many o-rings did ypu say they stuffed in there?) If I completely destroy it in the process, well...

Taking stock of my old regs

Great info folks, thanks. There will probably be some gear upgrades for sure, but I figure if it works and has a chance to keep on working, I might as well keep it working. :-) That was my aim for migrating to a tried and true platform like the Conshelf when I learned that Dacor had checked out...

Taking stock of my old regs

Hi everyone This is literally my first post in years, during which much has happened but unfortunately not much of it involved diving. I'm looking to change that soon, but I need to go through my old sack of gear and determine which of it is still serviceable. I hope some of you will be able to...

    What Regulator is this?

I wonder if Ericsson got into the dive gear biz for a while...that first stage looks like an old Ericophone. :-) cheers Billy S.

Do you think my tank is still good? Sitting outside for several years...

hey all Surfacing once again after a VERY long time... I've just moved for the first time in 5 1/2 years (none of which was spent diving, unfortunately) and in the process I've naturally unearthed my cache of gear. One piece which I'd all but forgotten about is my old trusty cylinder, an AL90...

Surfacing once again (after how long??)

greets, everyone I've decided to pop up and let anyone who remembers me (if there are any) that I'm still alive and still interested, if lately *very* inactive, in the sport. With regards to diving, as with a lot of my interests, the last few years have not been too kind as I've been working...

replacement mouthpieces for USD plastic second stage--need special type?

Just to clarify, btw, the Pro Diver was in fact a US Divers model, albeit a fairly short-lived one; I had read somewhere on SB that the Pro Diver and Conshelf seconds were one and the same save for the label. I have my PD second mated to an SE2 first stage. cheers Billy S.

replacement mouthpieces for USD plastic second stage--need special type?

hey all Question for you: I was perusing the accessories at Leisure Pro and noticed that they had the kind of generic black and clear silicone mouthpieces, as well as the SeaCure one. Now, the SeaCure product description mentions that they have three different styles to fit different types of...

    Product Design - Scuba Equipment/Gear

Kind of like an astronaut-style "spaghetti suit", maybe? A suit with a network of tubes or channels running through it, fed by a small water heater/pump. cheers Billy S.

First Time Equipment Recommendations for Woman...

One option you could try, if it's available, is to see if your LDS is selling any of its rental/class gear. It's likely to be heavily used--your ex-rental BCD may be brown instead of black from all the chlorine--but also well-maintained, and it will be much cheaper than new. I bought my first...

    New Reg or New Guitar??????

As yet another guitar-playing diver, I say... GUITAR! Yeah, yeah, new guitars are always good!!!!! For me a reg is purely functional--you take care of it, it takes care of you. Unless you need a spare or one for different conditions, I personally can't see the excitement in buying another one...

Should people buy used regulators off ebay?

I took my US Divers eBay-Special to one of my local LDS's back in Columbus for servicing, and not only did they service it, they also gave me a break on the price because they claimed it was still under warranty or something! I think I even meekly protested, being insufferably honest, but they...

Should people buy used regulators off ebay?

My 0.02 cents worth: I think you do need to do your research beforehand, but if you know what you're looking for--and more important what you're not looking for--eBay's a great way to go. As far as I'm concerned, if a reg is a good model from a good brand, save your money and buy it used...

bp/w, singles or doubles? for diving in New Jersey area

That's a relief. Yes, I'm not going to be able to make any big gear purchases anytime soon, but I was thinking of somewhere down the road. I suppose I got the impression that around here everyone dives with doubles and bp/w's. If a single on a jacket is doable, that's what I'm going to...

bp/w, singles or doubles? for diving in New Jersey area

hey everyone After another long absence, I'm back! Well, at least for a few minutes... :-) So, I moved to NJ from Ohio a few months ago, and I'm looking forward to trying to get some more advanced training and such so I can get in some local diving (once I have some finances, at least). I...

Moving to northern NJ and looking to get back into diving

Incidentally, since I don't own a drysuit, do shops around you guys rent them? I suspect my next gear purchase will probably some kind of bp/w setup, since I don't have any kind of drysuit training or experience yet but I figure I could possibly dive in my 6.5mm wetsuit. And drysuits are plain...

Moving to northern NJ and looking to get back into diving

Pleased to meet you both. I'm looking forward to getting involved. Be warned that coming from Ohio I will probably need a bit of coaching on real, hardcore cold-water diving (never worn a drysuit or double tanks, for instance), and I'm guessing that Tobermory doesn't count. :-) I expect that...
