    Glue Ear - Diving Risk

My girlfriend has been diagnosed with Glue Ear and has been told to take decongestants. She has not had a full check up by the doctor and have been told that she may have to live with it. (seems an odd comment to me) She was also told that she would not need to give up diving but need to...

    Is this safe training practice?

Hi Yes I was at the site watching this. I am trained to Rescue diver. I do not think that this was safe practice from the point of the HSE. It did comply with PADI ratio of staff to student but in very low viz I question the wisdom or complete lack of. JMO

    Is this safe training practice?

The equipment provided was too big for her since she is very petite and the exposure suite was badly fitting with a nonexistent neck seal. In 6 meters the water was warmer and the student was relaxed about this. However the instructor then changed the dive plan without informing the students...

    Is this safe training practice?

Would you expect a Student on their second Open Water (non confined) dive in the UK with less than 1 meters viz and with water temperature of 14 degrees to take their mask off at 16 meters in depth? The site had training platforms at 6 meters so my question is; is this good safe diving...

    Black Diamond Vs Ranger

I have a Zeagle Ranger and I am very impressed with it. On a trip to the red sea I used it every day for two weeks and was not able to wash it after the dives. It not only survived it still looks like new after 60 dives granted it has been well looked after apart from the two weeks in Egypt...

Diving off the coast of England?

Some great wrecks off Portland South Coast. But I agree with String, diving in the UK is very different to warm waters do some dives with someone who is experienced with UK diving. Viz can drop to lessthan 1 meter, 4 or more you consider yourself lucky. You should be OK with 7mm Semi Dry...

    First time dry!!

Not sure if this will help and with very little experience of dry suit diving 8 dives in total I thought I would share our experiences since it may help as we were in the same boat as you, so to speak. My wife and I purchased our dry suits did several practice dives at 6 meters and used the...

Confused about Cylinder inspections UK regulations

Do nitrox cylinders need to be inspected annually in the UK I keep finding conflicting views. My LDS says if it was not Nitrox then every 2 years. But two sites I found imply it’s every 5 years regardless if the cylinder is 02 clean Example one web site states this: The hydraulic test...

First air fill of the year

Thanks everyone, my LDS emptied the tank via his fill system (a lot less noise) and then refilled them. I got excellent service from my LDS, Forward Diving. Cheers Peter

First air fill of the year

Could this be confusion with enriched air? I think that the oxygen when stored can give a different analyzer reading when checked several days later. But I cannot see how NON enriched air can lose o2 % Peter

First air fill of the year

What should you do on your first fill of the season please? I emptied my tanks down to 75 bar at the end of the season. Tonight will be the first fill of the new season. Tanks are in date, 02 clean Nitrox, 15L. So, should I empty them before going to LDS or is it OK just to top up to 240...

    "Dust Caps" and rinsing rant

I was told to soak 2nd stage in luke warm water about 25 degrees so that the salt water desolves more easily. It does get more salt out than cold water. As for soaking I do have DIN regs with screw on caps which I could dunk if I wished but tend to wash attached to a tank.

Just a couple more Zeagle Ranger Questions, I promise!!!

Sorry browser crashed - double posting Slightly off topic but, are their any special servicing consideration with the quick release other than just washing the salt of it? Does the rip cable need to be replaced every x year? Had my Ranger for 9 months (40 dives) still looks like new great...

    Do you smoke

Congratulations to all who have quit smoking. Think of the money you could make if you could event away of smoking whilst on long deco stops. I hate the smell of smoke on board the boat. Peter
