The season began for me with a trip on my boat to see where the scallops had moved to and we were able to locate them in numbers just good enough to get our gallon each. Some of the meats were twice the size of what we usually get. Same size shells, same exact area, massive meat. Weird.
Two days...
I did two dives June 7th on the North Shore. Bottom temps were 48-50° at depth. Lots of nasty surge and vis was 10-15' at best but there were some bugs around. We saw some Lobzillas over 10 lbs and lots of oversized eggers. The legal bugs we got were all hard shelled and packed with meat. I...
Flying down from MA to dive with the whale sharks at the GA Aquarium on 3/21/19. Really hoping to find someone to hand my GoPro to so that they can film us from outside the tank since we aren't allowed to bring it in the water with us. I'd pay for the person's ticket.
If anyone, like me, has scuba pictures on their G+ account or is a member of a scuba related group on there, you should download them ASAP. I've always like SB much better anyways.
Hello everyone! I will be taking my 18 y/o daughter diving at Back Beach tomorrow and need some help. Every time I've been there (which isn't very often) in the last 20 years it has been in a Supervisory role so I have never really stopped to "smell the roses". I've been student-watching She...
I did two dives with a new buddy off my boat. Vis was best I've seen there at 15-20'. Diving the day after a long weekend with good scuba weather turned out to be foolish since almost every lobster was either a little too big, a little too small or HUGE. We saw thousands of urchins, pollock. a...
A buddy and I decided to replenish our supply of scallops so we launched at Winter Island in my boat and headed out to where the beds had been last year. I dropped the cabled camera over and began searching only to find lots of barren sand and gravel. After a few moves we finally began seeing a...
Decided to see if the repairs to the outboard finally fixed it so we went to our usual bug spot. Turns out the motor isn't fully fixed so more tweaks in the future. The water was flat calm and much warmer than last time with bottom temps in the high 50's. Visibility was about 15'. Seemed like...
Editing program is acting up and I had field of view set for "narrow" so not much usable footage. This is just the actual catching from the first of three dives. Be sure to watch it in 1080p and try to get nauseated from the wobbling camera.

Are recreational boats allowed to tie up to the balls or only charter boats? Haven't been on the Poling in years and it was always on charter boats while assisting classes. Thanks.
Decided to try for one last scallop dive before Christmas. Launched at Winter Island and headed out to the beds. Found very few with the cabled camera initially but eventually found a small bed. Descended to 50' and found at least 20' visibility. Water temp at depth was 42°. Didn't see a single...
I had one for the Hero3 Silver and it made a huge difference but my wife surprised me yesterday with a 4 Black. Based on what I'm reading, the black color-corrects pretty well. Do any 4 black owners here use the magenta or have an opinion? Thanks.
No waiting at the ramp, flat seas and warm air temps started the day off right. Easy motor out to the area and found the only other boat within 10 miles of us on my spot. We moved to another spot about a mile away and anchored up. Got to the bottom to find 10'-15 vis and water temp of 52...
A new buddy and I launched my boat in Salisbury and headed out to the area I had done well at in the past. Waves were less than a foot but there were big rollers which made gearing up harder than it should have been. Went down anchor line and found 2' viz and lots of surge. We tried hunting for...
Not sure how they could think closing it 24/7 for the entire Summer is a good idea but...
Is there another landing near there with access to the open ocean? Not seeing one listed on MA.gov site. Thanks.
