I recently went through the exercise of hunting around for a good all round dive watch. I was looking for something that was easy to read under all light conditions and had a sweep second hand. I eventually settled on one of the US Navy Seals Traser watches and it works well from full light to...
The Similans are a great location for the beginner diver. There are a variety of dives for every level. Shallow to 25m plus, swim throughs, a chance for Mantas and Whale Sharks. 3-5 day live-a-board trips are common starting in Nov throught to May.
I havent dived Manardo but it is on my must...
I loved swim throughs as a student and they are a good way to test bouyancy if they narrow a little. It comes down to your own comfort level. If you don't want to do it swim over or around.
Welcome to the board.
Believe me you can get *any* question answered here, even some non-diving ones.
I met a couple from Abyss Scuba Diving in Sydney on a trip to Sipidan recently and one of them is very active on the board in the Photography Area. www.abyss.com.au. If you are looking for...
It's a basic safety issue, dive computers have batteries and batteries go flat. When your air indicator is connected to such a system then of course you need to surface if the battery dies.
That being said mechanical guages also break down so in that situation the same actions are taken...
Nice in an ideal world but it would never work here.
As a diver I am sure that you have seen the marine police boats tied up at their wharfs. You have probably never seen out on the water howevere because they sell the fuel they receive for extra personal money.
With the exception of a...
Welcome to the ScubaBoard.
I had the good fortune to dive at and around Sipidan this April and enjoyed it immensely, I consider it the best place ai have dived to date.
We have some good diving up here in Thailand which is not too far away. There is also some excellent diving in Indonesia...
BRW,
Since the results of what we are doing and working on will be dived by people like Mark, who I have since spoken to on one occasion, I am treating the subject with all seriousness.
As I mentioned I have since found materials that go into the subject of bubbles in depth including...
Actually the idea is to come up with a model that allows anyone to dive to 1000' and come back safely to the surface without a DCS or ICD hit. I have contacted BRW directly and also since then been in contact with others in the industry who have contrasting ideas on the validity of his model...
From what I rememeber of my OW course and my experience in teaching Rescue the average OW student hardly remembers anythig of their OW course in terms of anything that happens outside their immediate focus.
It takes the average person about 20 dives to get their bouyancy working automatically...
Thanks for your comments.
Ambitious perhaps but an interesting exercise as well.
Advanced Trimix Diving actually.
On 2. The model/software I am working on is ironically with the guy who did the last dive plan for Mark (whom I have yet to meet) and will factor in isobaric counter...
I know of one course that covers everything from regulators to compressors. You can contact Steve Burton at www.mermaiddive.com. Of course this is in Thailand so may not be suitable.
I know the Instructor personally, he is an Engineer and very thorough when he teaches.
OK thanks for the info, in that case I'll keep working through the math and see what I can come up with on my own.
The theory should be valid to any depth as long as the ascent gradients are calculated correctly.
As you know the body does suddenly start behaving differently in terms of...
You missed the point, I'm writing a new deco software system.
All of the current methodologies have led to a deco hit on the big dives 250m +. The exception was the last record 313m where the diver did not come up bent and requiring massive amounts of time in a Deco chamber. This is the...
