My mask is always over my eyes from the beginning of my dive until I climb back up the ladder and sit back down on the deck. For me it's my only choice as I am blind as a bat without my bifocal prescription mask. ;) Just for safety's sake I also carry a backup prescription mask.
My husband dives but just wasn't able to get off work to go to CCV with me last December. I roomed with another female single and ending up diving with her on most dives. Never had a problem finding a dive partner for the short dives.
You'll have a great time at CCV.
My local LDS does frequent SoCal boat trips and when I'm on the boat as a DM I dive with any paying customer that wants to dive - at least once anyway :eyebrow:
When I am a paying customer on the boat, I will dive with a noobie as long as I am comfortable with their diving experience...
Sarah,
I have an USIA Aqua Sport drysuit with latex socks. Quite a bit of my diving is in SoCal and even though I can usually dive a 7m wetsuit comfortably, staying dry on the surface is a real plus for my drysuit. Also with the latex socks all I have to do is buy a pair of booties 2 sizes...
Bob,
This wasn't meant to be a personal attack - I was just going by what he said. He said that prior to using a BP/W (i.e. ranger & nighthawk) he needed to fin with his hands. Maybe since he got his BP/W he has been doing more diving, become more confortable and now has better buoyancy...
I my opinion OEX2's problem is not which type of bcd he uses but his skill level. Anyone with 30 years of diving experience should have stopped "finning with his hands" eons ago.

The attached picture was taken a couple of years ago in Cozumel. I could tell all kinds of stories about this diver but I'll just let the picture speak for itself. :eyebrow:
And, yes I did have to help her up! :LIFSAVR:
Pharmguy,
In two weeks I will be leaving for CCV. Having never been to Roatan before I researched all the info on this board and other locations, spoke with other divers who had been to both locations and made my decision based on what I was looking for - the most dives possible with the...

Ikelite Housing
Ikelite dual 50w lights
I do like the housing as I can use the monitor rather than a viewfinder. I use an Ikelite housing for my still camera so I am quite comfortable with this video housing.
Just got the video lights and am anxious to try them out. I have...
I have a Uwatec SmartCom console model. I really like the large and easy to read display. You don't need any additional download cables as it downloads via irda and the dive log program is included. You can go to the uwatec website at http://www.uwatec.com/index-eng.htm and view a sample...
Looks like you and Karen had a good trip. I also heard that DC Weekend was really good. I'm off to CocoView, December 4th-11th, so I'll be missing the X-mas Party.
I've posted a few of my pics here, hope to get some more uploaded.
Have a great Thanksgiving.
Is anyone going to Cocoview on December 4th - 11th. I would have liked to join Doc's trip but that week doesn't work. It will be my first time to Roatan and based on all the info posted here I know I'm going to have a blast.

It's funny that you mention both stress & local diving. Our diving here is in man-made lakes that still have trees and cactus on the bottom. Now add all the lost fishing line & lures and that for me adds up to STRESSful diving. But it does sharpen ones diving skills to run a search pattern in...
I been lurking on this board for a few months and figured it was time I actually participated.
My first scuba dive was a resort dive in Hawaii about 28 years ago. I had a great time but at the time was a single parent and just couldn't afford to pursue the sport.
About 5 years later, I...
