    Good point - I hadn't looked at fishbase as for some reason ever so often it's very hard for me to access the site. Not S. prasiognathos then.

    1 - Scarus ghobban - agree. 2 - I think it's a Scarus prasiognathos (initial phase). S. niger has "yellow to green spot or streak behind eye, dark bands around mouth" according to Allen, Steene, Humann & DeLoach. 3 - Scarus rivulatus - agree. 4 - Scarus scaber - most probably 5 - NOT...

    Absolutely no idea what these are... Please help. I find them regularly in the shallow water around Pattaya area (northern Gulf of Siam, Thailand).

    Fish from Thailand...

    I'm still not quite sure what it is, it reminds me of certain knifefish species (but they are freshwater fish from S. America). I was under the impression that pearlfish are mostly nocturnal and have somewhat translucent bodies.

    Anyone know what this is :confused: Photo was taken at Sak island (Ko Sak), Pattaya area (north eastern part of the Gulf of Siam, Thailand) in sandy area/shallow water (6-8 msw). Fish appears to be very small (see urchin spines for scale).

    I think Neville Coleman calls this species "Dusky Nembrotha" or something equally heinous... Wikipedia calls it "variable neon slug." I think you should go with "the pimp slug."
