Oh shoot...I just came back to SB after months of deadbeatedness. ;) The KIWIS - ;) - are doing research on cost-benefit analysis of eradication at the Cawthron Institute. There is a report somewhere. I will have to get my mitts on it. :)

They are working on ways in New Zealand to eradicate the tunicates. Right now, we are trying to understand their biology and get them growing in the lab to figure what makes them tick, the key to getting rid of them and uncovering other places to which they could spread.

Okay. I have an weight-integrated BC (from Mares). I like the system. However I am a klutz and manage to lose things a little too easily. Upon returning from a dive last week, I managed to "misplace" one of my weight pockets (a mechanical release system - MRS - pouch). I know it made it out of...

Yes, my grad school has its only pebbly beach which I use as my own personal swimming pool...and the dock right there is one of the sites for my thesis research too. Yeah, it's delightful. :) Thanks for the encouragement!

Well said, Andy. It happens also if you are following the bottom and it becomes gradually more shallow...if you are not keeping attuned to your buoyancy and not dumping air from your BC when you need to, the air expands and up you go. I should know, it's happened to me. You just have to pay...

Everyone, thanks! I am going to practice quite a bit this week (I like to go snorkeling off our beach after working) and try my best to get it down. The DSO and I are going to dive on the 31st and I am sure he'd like to see if I made progress. :) I will keep you posted. :) :D
