    Firefighter air Vs Scuba Air

SCBA to SCUBA Yoke or DIN adapter. It was available online, don't remember the source though.

    Firefighter air Vs Scuba Air

I did it for years. As long as the FD air is tested and Grade E, you're good to go. I just had to get an adapter for my tanks

    Round boot or octagonal?

I vote no boots. They trap salt, even after a solid rinse and that is where you'll get corrosion. Just lay the tanks down, like you're supposed to do anyway.

    Divers rescued Martin county

Been boarded dozens of times by CG and FWC. They never even batted an eye on the fact we had spearguns and lobsters all over the boat. Bahamas is a different situation...

    Divers rescued Martin county

Huh? that's not true. You can absolutely spearhunt and lobster hunt at the same time in FL. You just can't spear the lobster

    Two divers critical - Hawaii

I can confirm there was a rebreather fatality yesterday. The rescuer was treated for minor injuries due to a rapid ascent in a chamber.

    Boat for tech diving?

A HUGE advantage for you if you want to run tech trips down your way; It is nearly impossible to get good trimix fills anywhere in the Keys. Shoot, even if you don't end up doing the charters, you'd still have my business just for fills. Yes, the down line is handy and that is a very good...

    Boat for tech diving?

Lots of space is needed for techies. For a single dive, imagine at least double back tanks, and 2 stage bottles for each team member. CCR guys might be a little more streamlined. Lots of techs like to bring scooters too, so you'll need a space for them. Emergency oxygen is a requirement also. I...

Planning a dive with friend that is paralyzed from waist down

The charter Sea Experience in Fort Lauderdale has lots of experience with disabled divers. They host SUDS every year and their staff is great.

Palau: Liveaboard decisions? Compared to shore-based? Help?

I was in Palau last April and was torn on staying shore based or liveaboard too. My wife and I ended up staying land-side at Palau Pacific Reef Resort and dove with Sam's Tours. Turns out, the shore based dive ops go to all of the exact same places the liveaboards go to, so you really don't gain...

No more spearing in Southeast Florida???

That's a great point. Sometimes freedivers believe the bubble blowers are hunting with some big advantage over them. I do both also. I'll admit, I'm not as great of a freediver as some, but I am trained and I do feel comfortable doing it, but I tend to do well while freedive hunting whereas on...

No more spearing in Southeast Florida???

I'm less concerned about the no-take zones... not happy about them... but more worried about the all out ban on spearing while on scuba. There is a misconception that scuba hunters come up with hundreds of fish and are decimating the livestock. In reality, they have the same recreational limits...

Palau, What to do with Extra Days???

My wife and I did an ATV tour through Fish in Fins and had a great time! It was an all day thing that included lunch. Did a nice tour of town, then went off roading to historic and scenic sites. Kayaking the rock islands through Sam's was fantastic too. Our next trip, I'd do a day trip to...

recommendations for first shore dive - Florida east coast

Lauderdale by the Sea is great. Park at Hibiscus Rd. just south of the Commercial Blvd. pier. Blue Heron Bridge is a good dive if you don't mind diving with 100 of your closest friends. It tends to get very crowded there and I've been burned on it for that reason.

Shipping tanks ahead when traveling in the U.S.

If you're shipping doubles, it would quickly be more cost beneficial to just buy a used set when you get to where ever you're going. The short answer; people don't bring tanks with them when they travel.
