DW-"Mistral" - 1 Stage Regulator : Just looking to mooch some help :P

Don't be scared of it. Toss it on an LP tank, throw it on your back and try it out in a pool. Remember, swim with your right shoulder pointing up and the reg will absolutely feed you air. You can tune these things to be incredibly high performance. Read the manuals, do a rebuild, and go diving.

Should people buy used regulators off ebay?

No, you shouldn't. Especially vintage double hose regulators or any of the Conshelf series. Seriously, don't bid on those. YOU WILL DIE, LIFE SUPPORT EQUIPMENT, REGS ARE MAGIC AND IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND, SUPPORT YOUR LDS, BLAH BLAH BLAH. I'll add more to the list when some more gear that I...

Spare Air-worth its weight in gold

He didn't say he was letting his kid freeswim. The kid was swimming on the surface with his dad holding his breath beneath him. The kid was not in any real danger. Some members of this board need to get a grip. They seem scared of everything. And, for the record, I have a 5 year old. It...

Spare Air-worth its weight in gold

I guess PADI is pretty stupid, because they do the same thing as rds912. Where did I get that? Well, at PADI's website. Geez, and they even specify that it is safe for 5 year olds. How dare they play with the lives of kids like that!!! Here is a description of the equipment used: rds912, I...

    Full DIY Gear

Update? Hmmm, I've still been building and rebuilding regs. I've come across a new method of casting which may help me overcome the problems I had before on my quest for home built cans, but I haven't had a free weekend(that wasn't soaked with moisture) to test it. Moisture and molten metal are...

    LDS telling a story

Open circuit regulators are dead simple in operation(rebreathers are a different story entirely). If a person was actually incapable of maintaining one, I would consider them(the person) to be unsafe to dive with. Frankly, if a regulator really did require a course to maintain, I would consider...

How much that the LDS tells me can I believe?

My LDS is primarily ebay. My primary technician is yours truly. My air and visuals come from the hydro shop, where the hydro guy knows my name and let's me watch him at work and talk shop. I make sure to buy some stuff at the nearest shop I trust(like wetsuits and such). But in my experience...

Got a free tank - Have some Q's

I would make a reg display out of it. Just cut it off at the neck(a machine can do it quick and clean), put in any old 3/4" valve and, voila, a neat display for your reg. It's better than rotting in a bag during downtime, and I like them for my double hose regs. And sell the rest of the tank...

Which is the most durable regulator?

Oh, now, that's just not true..... *looks behind him at the table full of rebuilt double hose regs* Hmmm, you may be on to something. My vintage collection seems to be growing, and that's just my big knives and most of my double hose regs(including the super sexy Phoenix wearing the hoses...

AMF VOIT Swimaster Titan II MR12

I've got 6 of these Titan II regulators at last count. I've converted one to a double hose configuration, ala the Trieste. It's a nice regulator.

    Vintage Dive Clubs?

I don't know about dive clubs, but you can always join in the Sanddog yearly events in Florida. You can check the forum for Vintage Doublehose(http://www.vintagedoublehose.com/forum/index.php) to see how next year's event will shape up. Here's some pics from this year's Sanddog...

    Questions for Conshelf XIV fans

When I got my first set of Conshelf XIVs, I tried to find out the history. I got nowhere. Good luck.

What is the oldest regulator still in production or that you own?

Part of it is that people used to design things based on the KISS principle. Now, it's a different story. For example, I borrowed a bike recently, and when I got it home, couldn't keep it running. It would die everytime I put it into gear. My Harley riding uncle and I worked on this beast for...

What is the oldest regulator still in production or that you own?

I currently have 2 Conshelf XIVs, which are still in production. I also have an assortment of various single hose regs, including Conshelf XIs, some Healthways, Sportsways, several Voit Titans, etc. Most of my diving, however, is now monopolized by double hose regulators. I have 2 functional...

    Shop / Store Software

You could always look for a custom software developer. Custom database applications aren't usually too bad, and if done right, can make you tons of money. For a couple of years, I did support and development work with a Filemaker developer. His biggest batch of clients was for a custom pest...

    Tim's Recreational Dive Log

Sorry, I was referring to Elchato, who asked for a Linux version. In college, I used to whip up a dive log for each programming language I learned.
