    Paddle VS.Split

More effort more air consumption more cramps more blisters if your feet, fins and boots don't all work together. Everyone I have dove with who has not developed a love affair with their split fins insists in kicking them incorrectly. If you want aerobic exercise get on a bike or in a gym it's...

Help Me Solve My Weighty Problem

I wonder if your plate wing and tank are riding high on your torso instead of being anchored low on your hips. You don't mention it but tall and thin divers often fight their gear placement.

Seeking unbiased regulator advice, Poseidon or Oceanic

You might enjoy pricing Poseidon parts before you purchase. Check on the cost of a pilot valve. Once upon a time they cost $130. That may have changed.

    Thinking about getting a gun

Do you really want to chest cock a spear gun while on scuba? If you want to hip cock a gun make sure your band pull down is to a point where you have strength and leverage to get it loaded. Diver hunters select bigger guns with more mass for the added accuracy that comes with less recoil...

Atomic Reg noise- anyone encountered this before?

Hey Reefrat if you have changed the mouthpiece to an aftermarket mouthpiece replace the factory and try it before you do anything else. I am a master tech of 35 years and have seen this before. Just say'in.

Atomic Reg noise- anyone encountered this before?

Don't take anything apart if you have changed mouthpieces or find yourself obstructing air flow through bites on the mouthpiece. If you restrict the air coming through the regulator 2nd stage it can get weird.

    Express Tech

The plate, airway and inflator and bladder are the same on either model. For the price of about 10' of webbing you can have the standard model. My guess is the bean counters figured out the margin was not correct on the standard Express Tech.

    Zeagle octo-z vs octo plus

Hugely improved design on the OctoZ. The Octo Plus was an Apecs design that did not orally inflate through the mouthpiece and it did not tolerate seawater gunk build up. There is no parts availability anymore for the Octo Plus, and it is obsolete orphan. It was my least favorite Zeagle product...

    Bladder Life? Ranger

A little fabric softener in warm water makes a great bladder wash as it instantly disolves salt crystals. You want the unscented stuff.

Help a newbie: BCD + Reg for warm/cold waters

I can recomend the Atomic but I question the need to have the sealed version for your diving. Your stated dive temps will not freeze it up, and while the cristolube can reused it is messy. Take the money you saved and put it towards the Zeagle Stiletto, which I believe is the most durable, best...

    Bladder Life? Ranger

Hi Steve, Capt.Gene here! The BC Field Repair Kit would allow you to replave the working parts, the valve mechanism, yourself needing only an allen wrench. The job takes no particular skills and only an allen wrench for tools. The kit costs less than the service would cost. Cool design!

    Help with Ranger setup

Move the top tank band up to the level where it sets just below the start of the curve in the neck of the tank. You have the BC mounted too low on the tank. Those are great tanks to dive with, much prefered to al 80's, imho.

    Model and Year

The yellow cover is an Envoy, if it has a heat exchanger between the hose and case it's a CW. The grey cover is a ZX and the heat exchanger can be see. I cannot tell the year born but there have been no major changes beyond the switch to a SS orifice from a plastic and the newer cosmetic covers...
