Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

My understanding is that there were sliding doors that were normally only closed when the boat was docked. I think you can see the door just forward of the starboard head in the video. The door slides in behind the forward wall of the head.

Fire on dive boat Conception in CA

No, I don't believe so. I'm quite certain these boats used a nitrox stick system with a compressor. I'm sure they had emergency O2 but not storage banks. I can't completely discount the possibility that there were RB divers with their own bottles onboard but that doesn't seem too likely given...

    Found light at Point Lobos

If you recently lost a light at Point Lobos my buddy Tuomo found it yesterday (Sunday Feb 25). Hadn't been down long. We heard a rumor somebody had lost a light Saturday but didn't have a name. It's at the front gate at the park. Clinton

    Trip Report Falkland Islands

Water temps were about 48F. No real thermoclines or anything on the dives we did. So not too bad. Clinton

    Trip Report Falkland Islands

So I wanted to go someplace different. My friend Justin has worked as a guide on various boats in the Southern Hemisphere and convinced me that the Falklands needed more exploration. It still does. Outside of the dolphins we didn't see anything that quite matches BC or SE Alaska but that doesn't...

    Trip Report Falkland Islands

Last month I had the privilege of spending 2 weeks on Pelagic Australis diving the Falkland Islands. Falkland Islands It's adventure/expedition diving and we only managed 9 dives so I'm not yet willing to offer a definitive take on the diving. But that said, what we found was very good. Lots...

    Chuck Tribolet

Indeed Chuck will very much be missed. We shared many adventures over the years (Farallones FTW!) and he was a constant presence in local diving. The Monterey dive scene and especially the Monterey Shootouts will never be the same. ;-( Clinton

    Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary

Hi Eric, Not much in the way of direct evidence of fishing. Maybe 1 or 2 small lures and a very small amount of line. No nets that we saw. I have to think the lack of adult Yelloweyes is a by-product of past fishing as they are very slow growing. Not many big fish of other species either...

    Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary

In October, 2013, Bay Area Underwater Explorers (BAUE Home Page), in collaboration with NOAA, mounted a weeklong dive expedition to Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary off of the dive boat Escapade. We visited Craine's Point and the Northern East and Northern West Ridges. The water was so...

Monterey conditions. (let's keep it going )

Fantastic diving today in Carmel. Dove The Needle and Flintstones. Vis was easily 50 feet (we could see ripples on the surface from 80 feet). Bit of surge but nothing too serious. Pics by Rob and myself are here: The Needle and Flintstones Clinton

Layover at Port Moresby -currency required?

Take a shuttle to the Airways Hotel and hang out at the poolside restaurant. Shuttle is free and it's about a 5 minute ride. They take credit cards there. No need for Kina. Much nicer than the cafe in the international terminal.
