    We love PWC's

I posted this in the Boats and Boating forum, but I think the meaning escaped them. What do you think? You may like this story. Last week I was on my boat in Kenosha's South Port Marina. The entrance to the marina is quite narrow and there is shoal water (less than 5 feet) on each side. My...

    We love PWC's

You may like this story. Last week I was on my boat in Kenosha's South Port Marina. The entrance to the marina is quite narrow and there is shoal water (less than 5 feet) on each side. My attention was attracted by an extraordinarily loud boat horn being repeatedly sounded. I looked over...

We have just recently installed moorings on St. Mary, Lady Elgin and Seabird. There is one mooring on the stern of SS Wisconsin. We hope to get a second and third line on Wisconsin soon. Enjoy.

    Buoy on Seabird

We just put a mooring line and bouy on the steamship, Seabird, Saturday. For the uninformed, Seabird was a sidewheel steamer that sunk as the result of a fire in the late 1860's. She rests in 28 feet of water near Great Lakes Navy Base, Lake Michigan.

Lake Michigan - 100 ft Visibility now!

This last weekend we made several dives on the wreck, S.S. Wisconsin. Divers went descended on the midship mooring - the one fastened just above the hole where the cars are located. They reported the visibility was so good that from that location they could see the stern of the wreck. The...

    Free Flow

This little narrative illustrates how a small problem can escalate into an emergency. While this incident had a happy ending, it might well have turned out differently. Last weekend I took some divers out to dive the shipwreck, S.S. Wisconsin. Wisconsin is a 215 foot long steel freighter that...

    Lake Michigan moorings

We installed new moorings on a few of the Waukegan area wrecks over last weekend. We put lines on St. Mary and Lady Elgin. There was already a midship mooring on S.S. Wisconsin. We put a second mooring on the stern. Enjoy, and please be courteous.

    **bang**

Sunday I had a pool session planned with some technical students. I was planning to do a little fun session to break things up with some odd or vintage regulators. I had an old Healthways tilt-valve regulator that I thought might be fun to play with, so I got it out and put it on a full tank...

    Regulator Repair Course

There is finally a way that the average diver with some mechanical aptitude can get the training that he or she needs to do their own equipment repair. Most manufacturers will only train their dealers to repair their products. The cost to provide this training is considerable but they usually...

    Wreck Finder

I have been considering buying an EchoPilot Wreck Finder. It is a forward looking sonar with discriminating software for picking out shipwrecks. Does anyone have any experience with this product?

    Repackable Filter

I heard that there is a stainless steel repackable filter that is made to replace the triplex filter used on the Bauer Capitano compressor. Does anyone know who makes it or where it may be purchased?

    Bill Prince

I do not have much information yet, but I just got word that a friend and fellow dive boat captain, Bill Prince, passed away today. He was taking a rebreather course in Lake Wazee, Wisconsin. Initial reports are that he suffered a heart attack while under water. Bill owned and operated the dive...

New Year's Day Dive in Chicago

Does anyone know if anyone is organizing a New Year's Day dive this year? There always was one held on the lakefront in years past. I missed last year and I am not sure if it happened or not.

    Rosinco Dive

We are planning to go out to dive the Rosinco this weekend. It will be either Saturday afternoon (probably) or Sunday afternoon. For the uninitiatated, Rosinco is a motor yacht that sank in 1929. She rests in 185 feet of water, so it is a tri-mix dive. If you are interested and qualified...

    Wreck S.S. Wisconsin

We were out on the wreck of S. S. Wisconsin again yesterday. We replaced the midship mooring. Now we have a mooring at the bow and on the port rail halfway back. Both are good, strong moorings. We will try to get the stern mooring replaced next weekend. Just a reminder to those diving the...
