I didn't even bother to check the water temp. It had to be in the mid 80's. I was fine diving in a swimsuit and t shirt with the temp the same down to 30+ feet. The folks diving with me were wearing shortie wetsuits and were quite comfortable.
Got to get in two dives at Mammoth Lake on Sunday afternoon Visibility was great down to my max depth of around 30 ft. It was a good 15 ft and more in certain areas.
Sunday May 10th
Water Temp. 79
Vis 8 to 10 feet down to 30ft depth
Dove from dock by smaller pavilion on north side. Stayed above 30ft and cruised along the shoreline. Lots of vegetation above 18 ft. Saw all sorts of fish from schools of fingerling bass to groups of large perch guarding...
I've got a couple of the Deepstar regs. They are simple to rebuild. I just reversed the hp seat and replaced the o rings after cleaning. Total investment was about ten cents per regulator. I can see why they quit making them....way too bulletproof and no real money to be made in parts kits.

I had no trouble diving the site, especially since it is still too in the spring early for lots of swimmers. The park rangers were very helpful and requested a water temp and maximum depth from the dive. I would call in advance to make sure it is open for swimming. It was closed for swimming...
Was in Austin area last weekend on business and had a chance to dive Hamilton Pool on saturday morning, 3-25. Pretty good 1/4 mile hump downhill with all my gear, so I had friend along who voluntered to carry my wetsuit and fins. Dove with 5mm fullsuit, hood, gloves and boots. Very comfortable...
I have found that a DUI weight belt/harness is great for diving a 7mm wetsuit. I use mine for diving in the winter months here. It works equally well when using a BC, a BPW, or even a horsecollar vest. With its shoulder straps secure, you just can't lose all your weight. It's one less thing to...
