    Middle Ear Barotrauma

Check out this old thread: http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?threadid=718 It is about "alternobaric" something, but maybe she has something similar, since you said her ear feels like it won't "pop". The "disagreement" between balance mechanisms in the two ears causes symptoms of...

    Diving and Asthma???

THIS IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A REPONSE TO Dean Harry Asthma is caused by CHRONIC INFLAMATION of the airways, and this CHRONIC INFLAMATION causes them to be hyperresponsive. Adding "triggers" to this underlying chronic inflamation can cause increased inflamation, increased mucus production...

    Please define 'Asthmatic'

We had a thread on this subject recently: http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?threadid=361 You might want to check it out, along with YMCA's guidlines: http://www.ymcascuba.org/ymcascub/asthmatc.html You said, "according to my doctor I have asthma but am not classed as an...

THE CLUB TRIPS ARE HERE !

I have been reading about this club since Mario started his thread last Christmas, but I cannot "locate" it. In the trip posts is mentioned the waiving of the membership dues, but I have never seen anything specific about how to join, or how much the dues are. Where is this information?

    Ohio dive recommendations

Here are two links: http://www.subaquatics.com/ohiodiver/sites.html http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/ohiosquarryquary 50 degrees in Lake Erie? I had heard it was a "bone chilling experience" but that's not as cold as I thought it would be. How deep do you mean? It is that cold in the...

    Excited about starting classes

Welcome! As you know, this is a great site. I checked out your home page, and especially liked "Our Newest Hobby Adventure". I couldn't get the Scuba links to work, though. We are about the same age and I only began diving last year. I am sure you will have no problems. Be sure to check...

    DEATHS IN FLORIDA

When does a "swim through" become an overhead environment? You see all types of objects in the quarries around here, culverts, school busses, huey helicopters, etc.. and while they don't compare to a cave, they still present a barrier to the surface. The "tubes" at one quarry are...

    DCS and Thermal Protection Choices

Dr Deco, I was recently reading about bubble formation (in beverages) and your statement concerning exercise (such as jumping jacks) raised a question. I know that your statement is primarily relating to changes in circulation during the surface interval brought on by exercise. An...

    What are the effects ....

Has anyone tried "New Skin"? Its supposed to be a "waterproof bandage" and is available as a liquid or spray. I guess it dries on the skin to form a protective coating Just wondering if it is any good.

    Those ignorants...

I've noticed the same thing. I really don't think this is something you can talk someone into. Perhaps a person has to be comfortable in the water, and unless they are, nothing will convince them to dive. And maybe that's best. On the other hand, I too would appreciate any suggestions.

    Astma attack under water

Pam I guess I am a little late reading this thread. Hopefully, you already know what a peak flow meter is and are using one. If not, a peak flow meter (about $25) measures your ability to exhale. You should use one to monitor your condition. First you determine your 100 percent level...

    Scuba Vaccinations??

I did not mean for my last post to be taken personally or be low, Warhammer, just that it made me think about the risks of things like typhoid fever (and worse) when I saw it. In this months Skin Diver Magazine, vol 50 no 2, on page 22 is an article "Cruise Ships in Hot Water". I would...

    Scuba Vaccinations??

This wouldn't have anything to do with your "Deep Relief" thread would it? After seeing that I think I'll be looking for that Typhoid Fever vaccination too.

    Diving Safety Kits by Doctors?

Dee Is the inflamation in your knees from osteoarthritis? This is the most common form of arthritis. It is not actually caused by inflamation though so maybe this is not what you mean. If it is osteoarthritis you might also try glucosamine sulfate. It is a non-prescription nutritional...
