    LED light question?

Joe, I've got an SL4 and it performs OK. The only issues with it are: Switch = failure point. 4 C cells override the bulb. The importance of these points will depend on what you are using the light for (backup inside a cave, basic night diving light etc). As a rule I tend to...

    Plain English Tables

Oldtimer, You could check out what GUE do. From what I understand they simply use a set of common gases that are suitable for each depth in terms of END and deco obligation advantages. This sort of approach makes sense as you are only diving gas mix A in depths upto Z and therefore you...

    Titanium plates....(silly question?)

All, Thanks for the replies. I suspected there was no cause for concern but thought I'd best check. Learnt a bit about O2 dangers as well. Dave.

    Dsat

Very interesting topic here. If PADI are giving away the DSAT rating then I guess it's a similar sort of deal as the other instructor ratings: Take for example wreck diver courses - to teach a wreck diver course you only have to have certified 20 odd divers and have some documented...

    Titanium plates....(silly question?)

All Docs, I know that Titanium is a problem with 100% O2, I pressume that this is just at high pressures and that the dozen odd plates that I have in my face wont cause any issues (even if I'm decoing on O2)? Just a thought - Dave.

    Left side regulator???? Which one??

Spurtil, Stick to decent regs and don't worry about left and right - just my view on things. I've done the deep air independants and having one reg on a backup and the other clipped off is the same as keeping left and right but you get the reg that you want! Dave.

Repulse / Prince of Wales / 7 Skies

Frog Fish, I've dived the Repulse and Seven Skies and both sites aren't to be taken lightly! As a bare minimum I'd suggest that you need to be very comfortable doing deco, dive twins and have a sling with some form of Nitrox to off gas - others will add Trimix to this list but that's a whole...

Diving In Egypt (best of both worlds)

All, I've just got back in the water after a bad accident and I'm trying to plan a holiday to Egypt in October/November for me and a mate. I've dived in Hurghada before about 10 years ago and it was amassing, however I've heard reports that it's not so great now -opinions please. I'm...

    Diving after Neurological Surgery

All, Can anyone out there tell me the legislation for diving after Neurological Surgery (repair to tear in Durra)? I am looking for specific information relating to (a) working as a dive professional and (b) obtaining a fitness to dive medical for recreational diving. I have made some...

    Scar Tissue...

Thanks for the info guys. I've met a few people who have significant scars and still dive but none of them are into technical / decompression diving so couldn't really draw any conclusion. I'll make sure I get the doc checkup and also take it easy (to begin with at least!). Dave. PS//...

    Scar Tissue...

For all you medics, I had a serious m/cycle accident just over a month ago and as a result I lost an eye and had to have extensive facial surgery (also had a few other breaks/fractures). My diving before the accident was mainly deco dives and I'm aware that someone at some point has made a...

    Apex ATX200 Vs. Poseidon Jetstream/Odin

Bluehole, Thanks for the unbiased view on the SP fault. I was just curious because I've got a MK20 + S600 and haven't had a clitch yet - water temp is 12 C min though so no suprises there. Thanks - Dave.

    Hose Length...

Jonscuba, For single cylinder, 7ft hose is maybe too long. Obviously open to debate but 5ft is DIR (?). I use 7ft on both single and double and it doesn't seem to get in the way. Later - Dave.

    Hose Length...

Jonscuba, See the picture on this web page - http://www.halcyon.net/mc/harness.shtml The reg comes from the right hand side, under the right arm, around canister light (or tucked into waist belt), across chest, over left shoulder, round head and into mouth. Hope this helps. Also check...

    How big is your crotch

Yeah that's the ticket, besides they never let me have sharp utensils on day-release so I'm sure a chain saw would be out of the question! I'll let you know how I get on (that's if the damn Classic Wing from Dive Rite ever turns up - Australia sucks for getting gear!). Thanks once again -...

    How big is your crotch

OK I'll get some 1.5" soft webbing, the only question now is will standard weight belt retainers hold or should I bolt the thing in place like this.... http://www.wkpp.org/images/pina_equip/backplate_top_r.jpg Perhaps the rear end bolted and the front held by a weight retainer, that way I...

    How big is your crotch

UP + Tom, What about this method of doing it.... http://www.gasdiving.co.uk/pages/misc/kit/harness_2.htm Would this be as secure as looping the webbing through the slot. They have 2 slots on the BP so why not use them - now I'm confused! I think I'll try to get some softer webbing of...
