    March in Bimini

We leave for few dives in the Keys on Tues 3/27/01. This should get us tuned up before the big boat ride. I'll be taking some photos for sure and will have them on my website. http://www.wpro1.com/PhilAndCassie Regards,

    Please help ...

I use a 6mm farmer john and seperate jacket. It's very old so probably does the job of a new 3-4 mm suit. I like that I can just wear the lower half in warmer waters but can easily add the jacket for the colder stuff. I wear both peices for Crystal river and drifting down the Rainbow river...

    Knives: How to Wear?

I carry a small blunt tip knife mounted to my cummerbun. I would like to add a pair of medical shears. My Reasoning: 1. Must be able to reach knife/cutter with either hand. 2. Hard, but not impossible, to cut metal fishing leader with a knife. Shears can do anything including wire. 3. Blunt...

    Ohio dive recommendations

I logged 53 degrees at 72 feet in Lake Erie in July. The Guarries I dive can get into the high 40's down deep but 50's is usual. Regards,

    Ohio dive recommendations

Kyle, Actually there are several dive spots besides Lake Erie. Any of the dive shops in Columbus will know of and be able to give you directions to all of them. There is also a book I have of sites in Ohio, PA, WV, and IN. Check with Sub Aquatics in Reynoldsburg. I think one of their owners...

    Florida Keys

Thanks for the report. I signed on with Tropic Vista for 3/27 - 30/2001. I had a buddy just back from there and they had the same experience. Sounds like motel is a place to hang towels but boat and capt are very good. Regards,

    FL KEYS

WOW, Benthic, Great listing of sites for us all. Thanks. I will check them all ASAP. We will probably stay about midway in the Keys so we can be anywhere in short order. I do want to visit Kay West for a Photo Op at the southern marker and whatever else. :) Regards,

    Diver Signs

Vr, Thanks for the URL. Those drawings were pretty easy to follow. As I have been checking into as many resources as possible, I can tell you that within those two pages there are conflicts or different means for no less than 7 of those signs. Scary, isn't it? This site was better than...

    Diver Signs

Very good point DiveGal, about the local lingo always influencing any language. It just seems to me that although we all learn our scuba skills from different agencies, we still all perform mostly the same skills for the same reasons. It would be nice not to have to verify our signals with boat...

    FL KEYS

Great info from you all. I really appreciate it. I did see a link for the Tavernier Dive Center and it looks good too. The more info and web links the better IMO. :) and safe diving to you all,

    Diver Signs

DON, I thank you for the info. I checked the website and it's interesting. I have a book written by an American Sign Language instructor and diver. To my amazement, the website, which is based also on ASL has conflicts with this instructor. Looks like even within the American Sign Language...

    Diver Signs

I'm going to try this again. Hopefully, we will all learn more as a result. The original post was as follows: Is there a standard for diver sign language? I have seen conflicting signs for the same meaning. Seems to depend on who you're with and where you are. Is there a standard? If...

    Standard Sign Language

Is there a standard for diver sign language? I have seen conflicting signs for the same meaning. Seems to depend on who you're with and where you are. Is there a standard? If so, where can I get a copy? (Actually, I'm looking for all sources for sign info. Maybe, I will be the one to decide...

Is Wreck Diving the Carolinas in your 2001 Vacation plans?

IF you get a bit further south, you should check with Coastal Scuba in N Myrtle Beach. I have been going with for 6 years. Godd safe boat. They do Civil War wrecks mostly. http://www.Coastalscuba.com Regards,

    YOUR Resort Dive

Many divers started with the 'resort dive' or 'discovery dive' as their intro to scuba. I know that the vast majority of introductory dives are very safe but I am regularly astonished to hear the stories some relate. I am interested in hearing about your 'less than smart' intro dive. And to...

    An avoidable tragedy...

Such a sad event. I always try to read as man well documented accident accountings as I can. I'm sure many of us could have been on that dive as buddy or victim at some point in our learning curves. I have never been in that part of the world, but can't helping thinking that 90+ fsw, 20 dives...

    Under Pressure!

I'd rather spend my scuba dollars by the minute rather than by the foot. Starting my 7th year diving but only 125 dives. You folks tell me all about it back on the boat. I'm staying in the kiddie end of the pool, thanks. Regards,
