In August SUDS certified it 1st female wounded warrior. SGT McKinnon was hosted by Olympus in NC & received her SDI open water scubility certification. She was severely injured while serving in Iraq.
After dodging Ike for the 1st couple of days we finally got all 7 wounded warriors certified. The group from Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC was hosted by the USCG Borinquen & the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. Five warriors completed their open water certification, one got...
We have 2 more trips planned after Key Largo. Headed to the West coast of Puerto Rico in early September, diving with Taino Divers in Rincon. In December we'll be returning to GTMO, Cuba. If you are looking for a charitable way to support our wounded warriors we would appreciate your help. SUDS...
Hi Greg,
I don't have any VA contacts in your area, we are based out of Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. I would look into the IAHD - International Association of Handicapped Divers: IAHD 10 year Anniversary
Regards,
John
Hi Michael,
We're covered for instructors but there is room on the boat for 22-23 May, just call Gary at Conch Republic if you want to dive w/ us.
Best,
John
5 more days until we leave for OBT Key Largo. We still have spots available for the 22nd & 23rd. We're bringing 6 Army & 2 Marines from Walter Reed, come show your support for our wounded warriors.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the people that stopped by the "SUDS" booth at the trade-show in Chicago. There was a lot of interest in the program based out of Walter Reed Army Medical Center. We have trained over 60 wounded warriors since February of 2007 & continue to enroll more each week...

Also for Rincon you can fly into Aguadilla on the NW coast of PR, it is about a 30 min. drive to Rincon, the airport code is BQN. Direct flights from Newark to Aguadilla!
Ok, here it is: Desecheo is by far the best in PR! Mona Island is better but hard to get to, especially this time of year, it is 40 miles out & is usually done as a multi-day trip in the Summer. Desecheo is 13 miles out & you can get there in about 40 minutes w/ Taino Divers out of Rincon. I...
Shore dives aren't great in PR but here they are: Crashboat in Aguadilla, Steps Beach in Rincon, Shacks Beach near Ramey Air Base (be careful here, only dive when conditions are calm) Best boat diving is: The Wall on the South Coast & Desecheo Island on the West coast w/ Taino Divers in Rincon.
I used to be the Captain & Dive Instructor at Copamarina. The resort is nice but pricey. It is very secluded & isolated. The diving is hit or miss. Some days the Wall is worldclass & others it is rough w/ low vis. The best diving in PR is on the West coast out of Rincon. The place is Desecheo...
You should go to Rincon, it is on the West coast. I lived there for 3 years. It is a little surfer town w/ lots to do. Great diving @ Desecheo Island. Taino Divers can take you there. Their website is www.tainodivers.com & you can get info on Rincon at www.rinconpr.com
