I usually tip about the same as everyone else but I tip very well for DM's that go out of their way to let you know they that are there if you want/need them without pushing themselves on you to much.
Example: Best DM I have ever had was in Grand Cayman in 1995 during Cayman Madness. We had...
I will be going on this trip with you this year for sure. I'm gonna pay for it all early so no matter what happens around then I don't have to worry about the added expense although I'm locked in to a pretty good job now with no signs of a layoff anytime in the foreseeable future so I should be...
Hi Natasha :)
Well since I had to cancel on Bonaire this past year and you are still holding my airline ticket for me to use for this year you know where I'm going. :) I have to admit though that Belize sounds like a blast. I love that place. Anyway, can you email me or post the full...
I use both a computer and dive tables. I always have my tables in my pocket on every dive. If Im ever 70ft down and my computer decides to flood or stop working I have my dive watch and the tables to calculate from and still enjoy my dive. I also make a point to second guess my computer...
- California (Many places, mostly shark dives)
- Caribbean (Many places)
- Baja Mexico
- Hawaii (Many places)
One of my most favorite dive days was by an island called San Clemente off the coast of Southern California. You could not have asked for better conditions that day. The swells...
Man I am so envious of you guys. I really really wanted to make this trip with you all but unfortunately I got laid off a little over a month before the trip and did not have much of a choice but to cancel for this year. I am however looking forward to going next year as I still have a...
What, they are asking for logs now?
Hehe... honestly if they ask for the card no problem I carry it all the time in my wallet anyway. If they ask for logs that will be funny. I hardly ever logged my dives over past ten years. I've been diving all over the world and I have never been...
One of the boats I dove on for a very long time had an underwater P.A. system on it. When ever they needed the divers to return to the boat they would put on the JAWS music and crank up the volume. Worked really well on the newer divers. :)
I don't suppose anyone has or can get an email address(es) of the person(s) we should be writing so we can let them know our displeasure at this idea.
Just curious though, how do most of the dive operators there feel about this? It seems to me they may stand to make more money if the changes...
Actually I think by law you have to do a mandatory orientation dive with whichever dive company you go with. I do know you have to pay a marine life park fee in Bonaire as the whole island is a marine sanctuary. From my understanding the shore diving is really easy their also. Kind of like...
Unfortunately allot of those weekend warrior macho jet ski/sea doo people don't take the time to learn about boating safety or what markers mean what on the water and allot of them just don't seem to care to learn. After 10 years in the Coast Guard I just could not believe some of the dumb...
I don't really have a list. I just like to find stuff I have not seen before and I can do that on just about every dive, even in a place that I have been diving in for a while. Of course I'm not dissapointed if I don't find anything new as everything down there is what keeps me coming back.
Cuba. Man when that place opens up it is going to be a boon for diving. I wish Castro would either kick the bucket or change that place in to a free society.
Thanks much for the information Dee it's very helpful. My camera does have an automatic setting but it does not seem to be able to do a very good job of setting it properly. When I take a picture indoors they come out way to grainy when it's on auto so I wanted to try adjusting it manually to...
My digital camera has the following white balancing settings:
- Tungsten (No idea when to use this)
- Flourescent (No idea when to use this)
- Sun (I assume when it is bright out?)
- Shade (I assume when it is shady out?)
The manual shows you how to change to each setting on the camera...
