Your lucky you didn't kill yourself or your buddy, I don't think it's right to make light of putting yourself and others in danger, and then acting like you didn't do anything wrong.
If you don't have the training, you shouldn't try it.
OMS to me is more for guys that are underwater for a reason. All business.
OMS equipment is good stuff, being a newbie on the board, I can't tell you why people don't talk about them.
What are you talking about? All I said is that I disagree on your outlook on the snorkel
issue, and that NOAA teaches how a snorkel creates additional dead gas space and CO2 buildup.
It doesn't matter if it's tech or rec, everyone breathes through a snorkel the same way, and CO2 builds up...
Sorry to disagree. If that were true, it would be a required piece of equipment. That's like saying a BC is a life jacket. It can be used for one but that is not it's intended purpose, and being someone who dives for the NOAA and went through the NOAA course; you of all people should remember...

During the majority of dives they are completely worthless. If worn attached to the mask, they create a significant risk of entanglement, they can inadvertently unseat your mask, and they can interfere with the immediate use of other people's equipment. They interfere with gas sharing, but do so...
