Found pilings off Pensacola Beach with coordinates

Hey all, While searching Google Earth I found an interesting image of the surfline. I marked the coordinates and included a scale. Does anyone know if I'm looking at something confirmed or are these just pilings in the water? I'm new to the area and I'm trying to track down a few shore...

Pensacola Buddy wanted for somewhat-refresher easy dive

Hey all, After a fairly long hiatus from diving I pulled out the gear, sent the tanks off to get hydro'ed, and broke out a few dvds to brush up on the knowledge. I'm looking for a buddy to make a couple easy dives in the Pensacola area to get my feet wet again. I'm thinking one of the shore...

    Snorkeling in the Clearwater area?

Hey all, I'll be traveling to Clearwater, Fl this Sunday and I'm interested in doing some close-to-shore snorkeling. I'm not much interested in boat trips as this is a budget trip with the gf. Do any of you locals have knowledge of some easy-to-get-to near-shore snorkeling sites? Possibly...

opinions needed on my noobie gear choices...

With a Backplate and wing, each of those questions can be answered quite simply: YES. You will LOVE it...or Ill buy it from you:eyebrow: . You will love the simplicity and the STREAMLINED FEELING! YES. It WILL fit. And the same plate will most likely fit 3,000 people with adjustments to...

How would you prepare a new OW diver for 80' and drift dives?

No one is going to force you to stay above 80 feet. I'll admit that on my sixth dive we headed straight for 85 feet in the quarry. It was kindof dark and cold, I was using a new BC, and I had rental regs. I was within my comfort level, but not gonna lie, 85 feet isn't a good place to work out...

Who do you trust with your gear?

The mans got a point...there's not much to the process of assembling a tank regs and bc vs. assembling a regulator after maintainance. Valves, seats, springs, and pins are a bit more tempermental per assembly in the context of correct function than say...screwing down the yoke on a fresh tank...

How do you rig your BC?

I love my rig: heres what I have and why. 6# SS backplate DR Recwing (a bit overkill for single tank dives) 1 Pc. webbing harness, 4 D-rings (2 shoulder, 2 waist) Soft weightbelt Light, reel, SMB, small knife Pressure guage Wrist Mount Computer Alright...I have my regular BP/W set up...

    Are Weight Belts Obsolete?

I dive with a single aluminum tank (thus far), a 6 lb. steel plate (:eyebrow: ) and my wing. My harness has 4 D-rings and a crotch strap. I've found there isnt a single thing that I've ever needed on a dive that I havnt been able to attach to my system in a very streamlined manner. Having...

Comment by 'mxracer19' in media 'Bottles_Slung'

750ml pony sideslung with my safe second bungied around the neck...hung low for the picture. I normally keep it right under my chin in case my hands are tied up in an emergency.

Dive-related essay: please take a took?

I'm not quite sure of what you mean by "short fuse", as I have greatly appreciated all of the comments everyone has made, regardless of whether I could use them. I feel that I expressed 'thanks' at every given chance. My intent was not to submit my essay for rebuilding. If I had been looking...

Dive-related essay: please take a took?

As a side note, the essay is not finished yet. haha that would probably be an important piece of information. I have to find one more source supporting a viewpoint(possibly one of you guys), and I have to write the conclusion. I have also cited my sources in the essay, however they did not...
